Not sure who this will help but if you ship Priority Mail through the USPS and use Ebay labels (possibly others too) you can choose insurance at no charge up to $100 value.  You can read more here:  https://www.usps.com/  Hopefully this can help some as we all know the USPS likes to drop kick and step on packages from time to time.  At least my mail carrier does.  She has anger issues.    Its probably all the packages she has to pick up from my house every day.

Getting USPS to pay up is the challenge - I'll stick with my business insurance for most shipments and the occasional third-party insurance when I feel it's warranted. USPS can keep their $50 - it's what they'll end up doing anyway. 

I always thought it was funny theses carriers charge for delivery, then charge extra in case they f*ck up. McDonald's doesn't charge extra for insurance in case they forget the pickles.

Isn't it the same thing how the hospital wants you to sign a patient consent form so you can't sue them just in case they mess up the surgical operation? Maybe a little drastic but the general concept is still there.

Yeah, by the sounds of it, the USPS is in trouble.  They need to start picking up the slack if they want to remain competitive.  They have been too used to being the big dogs all these years, and now they realize they need to keep a closer eye on their rearview mirrors.

Good luck getting the money from USPS after filing insurance claim.  When it was near impossible to get the money when you PAID for insurance, getting the money from free insurance is going to be a walk in the park...
