I have a chance to buy a Grand Carousel (10196) for $500. It's still factory sealed, but the box has some slight damage. Should I go for it?

I went to my husband's boss's house for a Christmas party and saw the Grand Carousel sitting in his family room on display and collecting dust. I told my husband, "I want that". So he asked his boss about it a few weeks later and the boss said he had gotten it from his son and mom as a gift years ago. They had put it together for him. He wasn't attached and neither were they. My hubs told him it is valuable and he should do some research on it's value, but if he wanted to sell it, I wanted to buy it. In the end I got it for $300. Complete, but no box or instructions and it is so dusty, but I was so excited.
