Are fruitcakes running rampant on eBay lately? Selling, buying, listing, feedback, etc...

I listed a sealed 30th Gold C3P0 and some person kept emailing and asking how he can find one in a sealed boxed set. Needless to say, he never placed a Buy It Now offer after I asked if he was interested. Then I finally received a decent offer that I accepted. The UK buyer never paid after asking me twice if shipping will require a signature.

I won an open UCS Vader Tie Defender and the seller doesn't want to claim my payment via PayPal. Although feedback was low, his email is legit. I just sent him one.

My son wanted a Batman 1 Batmobile so I won one, Auction stated complete except for the road block. 16 minor elements ended up missing from both vehicles and seller shipped the set in the original lego box (wasn't listed in the auction) w/ supermarket brown paper around it. Never the less, the box was a pleasant surprise.

Feel free to also post any eBay feedback horror stories.

Update to this crazy story.  Of course the buyer never returned the item and never sent any documentation verifying they received their package with rat feces inside.  I called eBay

I guess he found out you have been catching people and cutting off the top of their heads... You tried but you couldn't get away with it man.

The funny thing is, it would have made more sense if he called me an employee of target, this was a retail store exclusive not an Activison employee one. I've never had an employee exclusive anything.....im just not that cool!!!

a lot of employee exclusives end up on ebay, i just bought the lego duck highballs from a former employee couple days ago for a really good price

Good stuff Jo, but that's lego though, I'm not going to pay for the skylander one's, have you seen what those go for? Some of them are over 1K ...no thanks

Off topic, anybody see what trenth got for his star wars collection on eBay? Glad he let it ride...

Now it's time to do the "please pay dance". haha the buyer has low feedback, but 100% and comments praise his fast payment, so we'll see.  Thanks for the advice guys.

It says, I'm an American and I don't know what pickle fruitcake nut crunching tree huggers are my kangaroo

I for one am very excited about the 3 1/2 eggs, however am disappointed in the lack of jingle fitzee.

Whatever he was selling, he wanted $61 to ship it.  Probably cost a lot to ship those eggs.

you should be ashamed for thinking his $58 handling charge is to much

Seems legit.  Jingle Fitzlee's are heavy and cost a lot to ship.

That was a beautiful thing to read. Poetic. :D

I think fruitcakes are a little rampant in the trading thread too.

Just for this comment, I'll bump my Queen Anne's thread.

I think your terms are fair, I sold a used one for well over that.  EBay of course, so there are fees to factor in too.

Won Unimog on eBay for somewhat reasonable price (basically MSRP), mint box was promised. The guy ships in the poly bag!  Gah!!! I thought only kmart and amazon does that...

Still sealed, but box took a bit of a beating on the way. Got $25 refund from him (considering that used ones are sold for about that much, did not have enough room to negotiate). But, gah!!!

So dumb, I can't believe people ship in bags.

Actually, it did happen to me before(not even poly bag - just a paper wrap around the box), but seller was like: "oh, i was out, had to ask my wife to ship". Got discount there as well, but sour taste in the mouth remained...

I know you can't on every purchase, but I do sometimes send the seller a note and let them know I'm a collector and I wan the item shipped in another box and packed carefully.  Sometimes they'll go to great lengths and sometimes they won't.

Yeah, got one of those as well. Some guy from Korea bought Architecture Studio from me on Amazon, via freight forwarding. Sent me this:  "Dear Seller,

I just placed an order for Lego Architecture Studio.

As I am a serious collector, I care about the box condition very much, and I hope to receive the box in mint condition"

Yep, did make me fiddle around, trying to find the box with the least number of creases/scratches...

Not Lego related, but I just bought an out of print board game expansion from ebay.  After checking out, I noticed that at the bottom of the auction they state that they ship everything in a poly mailer to "save the environment" and that boxes are only used upon request.  I'm not sure how using a plastic polybag saves the environment over a cardboard box that's most likely reused, but whatever.  Glad I caught it in time to send them a note to use a box.  That's just asking for trouble, I can't imagine many people would be happy having most items shipped in a poly mailer.
