Are fruitcakes running rampant on eBay lately? Selling, buying, listing, feedback, etc...

I listed a sealed 30th Gold C3P0 and some person kept emailing and asking how he can find one in a sealed boxed set. Needless to say, he never placed a Buy It Now offer after I asked if he was interested. Then I finally received a decent offer that I accepted. The UK buyer never paid after asking me twice if shipping will require a signature.

I won an open UCS Vader Tie Defender and the seller doesn't want to claim my payment via PayPal. Although feedback was low, his email is legit. I just sent him one.

My son wanted a Batman 1 Batmobile so I won one, Auction stated complete except for the road block. 16 minor elements ended up missing from both vehicles and seller shipped the set in the original lego box (wasn't listed in the auction) w/ supermarket brown paper around it. Never the less, the box was a pleasant surprise.

Feel free to also post any eBay feedback horror stories.

Update to this crazy story.  Of course the buyer never returned the item and never sent any documentation verifying they received their package with rat feces inside.  I called eBay

Wow

Well shoot, there goes my stimulus check.

If it was me, I wouldn’t have led with Angry Birds.

What does he have to loose.

Negative feedback received "Waiting for refund still" - There have been prior communications, no requests, no issues whatsoever (so it must be a buyer mistake, feedback left for wrong transaction, etc.)

I then notice that ebay phones are down (corona), so I submit a feedback removal request online. I quickly receive a response:

We’ve looked carefully at this feedback and see that it doesn’t qualify for removal.

Feedback is a way to let our members share their experiences with other members. Feedback that breaches the feedback policy may be removed by eBay. We won't remove feedback on the grounds that a seller believes a comment is untrue or undeserved.

I figure I would get the buyers contact info from ebay (so I can work it out with them), and I get:

Weird - if I go to a past order, and click on the buyers name, I get a "contact" option, where I can send them a message through EBay, either related to an item or in general. Have you tried this?

Yes, I have sent a couple messages (hopefully they respond). It isn't a very active account.

There is the option to get contact info (such as phone # etc), that's what I was pursuing (in case they don't check their emails regularly).

Automated system is useless.

Call as many times as it takes, eventually someone with sense will remove the feedback

I've done it before. Like everything, huge pain in the ass. Ignore the first people who answer with their canned responses and ask for a supervisor. If they act like an ass hat repeat the next day. It works.

Thankfully heard back from the buyer, who was intending to leave the feedback for another seller (our transaction was fine) - I sent the request to change feedback, and eventually the buyer did correct things.

I've had two claims of fraud on Ebay in the past two days. Meaning that both accounts claimed that they did not authorize the purchase. Both on the same set. Ningago City I have listed for $600 ish. Luckily, both of the accounts contacted me and I cancelled and refunded them as I had not shipped the item. But what's up??

I had the same thing happen to me, also a ninjago city set. Did you have to refund manually? I thought the refund is automatic as suggested by other members here. But the funds are still in my account. Thanks.

could it be a reseller trying to hype up the price of "Sold" sets...all it takes is a few "solds" to re-set the market price...and the guy may be figuring to sell his units while it would take a few days to sort out

Did u get stuck with paypal fees?

Maybe you guys should compare buyer names, could be the same person upping the price as $20 on Joe said.

EDIT: Solved - It worked itself out after a couple hours

I've got an item sold that eBay is telling me is Awaiting Payment, however Paypal shows payment.  I cant see anything in the Paypal transaction that shows its pending or anything.  Do I just mark it as paid in eBay and move on?

Shoot, I just sold a used Ninjago City today for $410. The buyer looked okay, still shipping to them though.

Is there a way to ding  (negative feedback) a seller for canceling my order without any warning or apology or reason?

You should be able to see it in My eBay below in "Cancelled Items" where you can click on it to leave feedback. I did this myself last year.

Thanks...it's kinda tricky as the option does not show up (came up as a disappearing tab on top of screen)

I will be sure to leave negative feedback since I'm pretty sure it was canceled because the price was low for going market rates.

I, too, am tempted to cancel something that I thought sold for too low...but I eat it and lesson learned...IMO; that kind of accountability is important on ebay and as a reseller "code"

As a rule, if a buyer purchases multiple copies of a set I nearly always get a message asking me to combine shipping costs. Sometimes it is before they pay, sometimes after.. I received an order for multiple sets to a freight forwarding address in Florida. Would you automatically refund the extra shipping cost to the buyer if they don't ask even if they are side skirting eBay and my own seller criteria of not shipping outside of the continental US?

I should add, they have 1212 positive feedbacks as a buyer in the past 12 months and have left only 2 feedback replies for purchases in the history of their account.

I wouldn’t unless they ask. Speaking of this, I just had a buyer of one of the Mini Droid Commander sets (who’s offer I accepted) make an offer on the second one I had listed before paying for the first. In this case, I did ask if he wanted to combine shipping, if for no other reason than to make sure I’m dealing with an actual human.

I have an issue with a sale where a set did not arrive on time using the “Fast and Free” shipping method USPS Priority Mail. For some reason the set went from San Fran to Los Angeles back to San Fran then to San Jose for delivery. I got dinged on my metrics for item not delivered on time no feedback yet from buyer. I thought that as long as I shipped within 1 Buisness day and used the required shipping service eBay takes the responsibility and issues the buyer a $5 voucher.

Anyway I called eBay today to clarify and see if I could get the strike removed and they have no phone support for buyers or sellers due to the health situation  hopefully when the reopen they will be understanding.

I am definitely interested in the resolution. I've actually put a disclaimer about shipping time. About 50% of the stuff takes a day or two longer.

Email them. It should be removed under their revised Covid-19 policies: https://export.ebay.com/en/seller-updates/covid19/covid19/. I'd also send them this link.
