When I was on the buying end of a drop-shipping scam, it required detective work to figure it out.  The seller had over 1000 feedback, but their listings were all stock photo and free shipping with below-MSRP new product.  When the Lego arrived, the invoice had a buyer's address that did not match with the "location" of my seller.  Further, searching for her username brought up an account on Freelancer.com, and the fact that she was actively working for someone who wanted people with high feedback and clear PayPal history to sell their stuff.  The final straw was when a 2nd and then a 3rd set arrived, though I had only ordered one.  All three had different names and addresses on the invoices.

 

I notified the seller, eBay, and Lego of my findings, and the seller's account was closed.

 

If enough of the boxes get checked that it becomes far more likely to be illegitimate than on the up-and-up, but one chooses to be contrarian and use my favorite line from Dumb and Dumber (Lloyd: You mean, not good like one out of a hundred? Mary: I'd say more like one out of a million. [pause]. Lloyd: So you're telling me there's a chance) to rationalize why they'll continue to prefer the minority opinion,  he or she is only doing it out of greed over the steal of a price.

 

Edit:  I want to clarify that there isn't enough of that evidence for me to personally say that this monteendunn_toy person is scamming or not.  There is enough, though, for me to not want to touch it with a 10 foot pole.

What you are talking about is REAL hard evidence...  You aren't making an educated guess.  ...glad you reported them.

And I have caught people before as well with real hard evidence. Read my blog article on Drop-Shipping. I know what to look for an expect.

 

Accusing them here literally hurts them none at all. It can only have a positive effect. If they are legitimate, they have nothing to worry about.

I think it's pretty obvious that we will agree to disagree. No need to keep kicking the horse...it's dead. 

All I want is people to be careful before they put someone on blast. (It's not just to protect the innocent but yourself when you accuse the wrong person.) The message isn't that hard to understand. 
 

I am not a lawyer but I'd also be real careful before I affected someone's business unless I was 100% sure.  There are libel and slander laws.   People have been sued over tweets, blogs, angie's listing reviews etc and just about everything else for making untrue statements about a company/person.  You better be certain...

Already sold. I wouldn't have reported it though. Those MFs were probably just stolen right off a truck, no stolen credit card required. Plus, the shipping origin is the seller's actual town instead of just "United States." Most of the obvious dropscammers use the broad origin address to help hide their tracks, I think. If a seller lists his address in Texas and your item ships out of North Carolina, that's a red flag.

I am totally up for reporting these people. Problem is, I don't know how you do it where you explain to ebay they are lying. I have seen others that claim they have 100% feedback and don't. I want to report listings for lying.

I've reported counterfeit items on current auctions to eBay and their response was that they don't care and try contacting my local police department. They just want the listing money it seems. I hope someone working there would care about things like this

....I hope this thread isn't being lurked in order to learn about great deals on ebay. We're not fooling around here. If you buy a $370 Death Star from a listing I suggest is fraudulent, you're gonna have a bad time. I'm talking to the newbies with more money than sense, and the vets who should have the sense to know better.
