Several LEGO fan websites are reporting a new Hobbit set called The Lake Town Chase. The set will retail for $49.99 with 334 pieces, and 5 minifigures: Bilbo Baggins, Thorin, Bard, the Master of Lake Town, and one guard. It's a very nice little set, but it has a high price tag for the amount of pieces that are included. Never the less, I'll be picking it up eventually. Scheduled release is December 2013!

Personally, I'm not that impressed by the set, as it is pretty barren looking, and doesn't have too much "filling". Oh well.

Wish the set had more elements for the mountain. Obviously Smaug is the highlight. $120 though? Seriously Lego? I'll wait for a nice Amazon or Target BOGO in late 2015. Sent

  • Totally not Lego, But I had to share as we are on this topic!   This is my Gingerbread house for a work contest.

So who saw the movie?

So who saw the movie?

I saw it. I thought it was okay... They shouldn't have made it into 3 movies.

Smaug will be a similar size to the dragon in the Dragon Mountain (70403) set. The Witch King will also make an appearance and will glow in the dark. Elrond makes a return and looks similar to the polybag version from the LOTR game pre-order bonus.

Here is a pretty decent image for the Legolas polybag yet we still have no idea where it is available from at this point in time. I say it looks as though our good friend is somehow using 'the force' to fire that catapult flick missile arrow thingy at the target....and missing the mark completely.

Its supposed to be available in Denmark and Netherlands in some shops!

It looks terrible.

Well, at least it is available somewhere in the world.

It looks terrible.

It looks pointless. Do we need yet another of the same Legolas?

It's not pointless if you are a child.

Its also pretty obvious that its available in EU or somewhere outside US because it has no parts/pieces count on the polybag on that image :P

Okay, you got me there. That version of Legolas is only available with Escape from Mirkwood Spiders making this the cheapest option.

I haven't bothered researching this but it looks like the legolas polybag might be a target exclusive packaged with the desolation of smaug blu-ray release. If this is true, it better come with the 3D version....

It's also not pointless if you feel the need to collect every set from a theme! I still need to buy those damn avengers polybags that never made it over here... Freaking $15 for a thor polybag... bah!

Well bloody hell..

So now I would have to buy that then buy the 3d extended edition when it comes out. Hopefully the polybags are cheap on ebay.

Ohhh I'd want that poly but don't want to buy the initial release. I want to wait for a boxed set.

Highly doubtful but maybe they'll offer a cheap box you can put the movies in like they did for the LOTR extended dvd's back in the day!

There was a box? I bought the extended editions of Lotr trilogy so I guess they were already in their own boxes lol

There was an outer box to put all 3 copies in. I think it was like $4 for s&****.

Oh! I'm going to google this.

I thought the LOTR extended DVD box was well done.

Oh that's pretty neat! Though it looks like the box they come in.

I meant cheap as in cheap to buy. I love the thing! I am surprised they even allowed us to mail in for one.

I was very surprised by it too, when it was released.  I think it was only $3.

And there is one good reason why I am a completist within reason. If the minifigure was exclusive then perhaps I might see myself buying the polybag but mainly otherwise (especially in this case), I just walk away. The character in either the Thor or Legolas polybags are/were available in other easily attainable sets. If you only want the character then that's okay but honestly why would I pay $15 for a single minifigure when I could buy a larger box set including the same one fully loaded with parts as well as a few other minifigures for a few dollars more?

Anyway, that Legolas polybag will be nice for any child of the parent buying the super ultra mega deluxe 3D version of the film but I already have a couple of that Legolas from the Mirkwood Spiders sets I found on clearance. As if I need yet another. Ha.

within reason

Does not compute!

Alright then, how about "limited funds". Does that 'compute'? :blum:
