Some special people get sets early all the time, some get them to review, maybe he is a big wig from TLG who knows. The EV is supposed to be out in sept right??

Yeah, I usually see them get them like one month earlier but this is like 3 months earlier and also is an exclusive.

Review/promo copies get sent out.

My girlfriend roughly translated this. The jist of it is that the guy who uploaded the pictures got it from a friend who sold it to him for a special price. He didn't reveal the source of where his friend got it from, likely because he didn't know.

 

The other people commenting were asking questions about how he had the set already when it wasn't out yet, and who his friend is that he got it from, if he had any more, etc.

 

Sounds like his friend is likely one of those early reviewers, etc and sold it to him on the side.

 

 

I mean, it's not uncommon. There's little inside deals like this in most industries, I'm sure, where select people on certain points on the totem pole have exclusive access to stuff well before it hits the market. Not sure why anyone is surprised.

Back when I was buying toys, we did enough business with the major toy companies that we always got early production samples of yhe new product. This in addition to seeing them three to six months before Toy Fair.

I saw a box of the new 75021 Republic Gunship in a store a week ago and now I regret not getting it.  I thought they were to be on sale on July 1st so I did not pay much attention to it.  Had I known of August 1st date, I would have bought it just for bragging rights.....

Yeah, its not a big deal, but being an exclusive I just thought it was kind of weird. Btw, its not a reviewer, the guy said that he bought 3 sets (he kept one and resold the others) and also said that his contact had 2 remaining sets.
