Does anyone else notice the strange smell that comes from CMFs? It almost smells toxic. I hope this is not a trend that will continue as more parts are being made in China.

I haven't sniffed any CMFs lately... Maybe it's your upper lip :)

Seriously though, yeah they use cheaper materials, but I don't think playing with Made in China Lego is gonna give you diabetes or anything.

I don't really smell my CMS mini figures, but I have gotten at least one misprint. I just checked and my figs smell like...regular I guess. What kind f smell are you getting?

I bought a box of MF 10 and when you open a bunch of them in a hurry I did notice a raunchy toxic plastic smell.  I backed up a little while opening them and cut them with scissors to end it faster.

Smells like teen spirit.  ha ha. There only seems to be a strong smell when you first open the bag. After that the smell seems to dissipate. It's not something I would normally notice or comment about, but it smells so weird. I don't notice it with an other sets, just the CMFs.

It could be that the bags are sealed so then the spell cannot escape. In regular boxes, I think the bags have small holes throughout them, and the box isn't exactly airtight either, which gives it time to escape... Maybe.

There is a smell from the mystery bag itself when it's first cut open. I haven't smelled anything coming from the minifigures themselves and notice the same scent from some brand new DVD covers. It is wierd and just plain funky, and I would guess it is some kind of byproduct from the factory assembly line.

You are smelling  the plastic outgassing.  All plastics outgas...especially when trapped in a sealed foil package and brought up to over 90 degrees Fahrenheit during transit.

I am not too surprised - I have personally always thought that the CMF's kinda stunk as investments.

There is always a funny smell when I cut one too.  :you:

I haven't really smelled any of my CMFs when I've opened them so I don't know if it smells bad or not. The normal boxed LEGO sets smell fine in my opinion.
