Wow. This might be one of the craziest deals I ever found. I just left Savers (a goodwill type store). Found a big bag of Legos marked $9.99. I had a 30% off coupon, so I paid $7. I wasn't sure what w

10254 + a (small) sleeper set + promo last night.

Sorry@exciter1, I’m not a fan of Saturn’s popularity. Zigging while everyone else zags has been working well enough for me the past year...

I didn’t promote Saturn V. [emoji8]

As an Irishman prone to the drink... musta confused you for having been rooting for clearing them. Apologies my friend ;)

ok, joined bandwagon and bought Saturn + Mercedes AMG, I would rather have Diner but it is 175€ here, maybe I will later buy 2x Ship in Bottle

Got a Ninjago City that was my wife’s Christmas present to me. I asked to wait to buy it until the promo was active.

Promo x 2. This is my first purchase from S @h  this year, almost made it a month, but needed to use up some of those SW $5 VIP points.

Is the promo for purchase only for VIP?

I think he called in a favor, or smooth-talked a CS representative. AFAIK these promos are not (yet - remember Snowglobe?) for sale, not even for VIPs (and who here isn't a VIP at LEGO?).

Found an online return of Assault on Hoth 75098 at an area Target. The box was beat up and marked down to $175. When I got to the register, it rang up $125!

What they've done recently with their promos is put a value on some of their promos.  For example, the recent 40178 VIP Promo in the UK had a value of £17.95 if I recall and the same goes with this anniversary promo.

Since they've attached a value and based on the above screenshot, perhaps Lego will soon start to sell these so called freebies and 'promos' directly to customers and potentially at the same time as the promotion period, thereby avoiding the need for a big purchase, just for the sake of getting the promo.

I wouldn't be surprised if they've received feedback from customers who have complained about having to make a big purchase to get a freebie or having to go down eBay route.  Wouldn't surprise me if Lego have taken heed of this feedback and go down this route and thus shut off another route for resellers.  This would also mean there is no such thing as limited, which again drives down prices.  When was the last time that a promo, commanded a premium?  The last one that I can recall, is the GBH and the Darth Revan promo.

Looks like the days of sitting on a freebie may be well and truly over.  This is another reason, that I'm not going to be loading up on these anniversary promos despite it being a great one and has the hallmarks of being a good earner in a year's time.

If they do that though they cut off the whole point of the promos.  I.e. entice people to spend more money.  Otherwise it's just another small seasonal set.

Would just be nicer perhaps if Pseudoty just told his fellow forum members instead.

its rare to fund a member who doesn't "share" those things

I would like to buy the Diner as well, but the price difference between The Netherlands (€169,99) and Germany (€149,99) is so significant I'd rather wait and buy it from LEGO Shop at Home Germany when I visit Oberhausen some time. :P  Would be even better to time a visit when Galeria Kaufhof has the Diner on sale...

Well, this method goes clear back to the days of the VW Camper Van poly, so it's not a new thing.

That Destinys Bounty outshines them all. After the Saturn V, this has to be the best value set of recent times? What other set gives you so much ABS plastic for £109.99? Once I have my vinyl cutter/laminator sorted, I'm going to print some custom (non copyright) sails for mine and may even start selling them? It's an industrial machine so I'll be able to churn out hundreds at a time if I need to

I got my DB for £70 in the last Tesco 342,originally bought for investment but decided to build it as the box was damaged.Tried to change the box twice and each time the condition of the packaging got worse.Decided to keep the original as I didn't want to lose my other two sets in the offer.

My worst DB came from SaH and I got a 2nd Nutcracker and an extra 200 VIP points when I complained. Shame that JL don't do a 3-for-2 as they often use factory cartons. I can't understand why retailers go out of their way (even SaH) to trash the boxes for us when they can just leave them in the factory cartons causing LESS work, Grrrrr!

Maybe they personally look for your order just to target you :) its what my paranoia tells me when I get damaged boxes.

It's easy to feel paranoid as I'm the only person I know that's received damaged boxes from LEGO over the last 2 months. Then again, I've had pristine boxes from Amazon and Tesco, unlike some others. FCOL retailers... just leave the sets in the damn cartons !!!
