January 9, 20187 yr £97.99? Too much, but you should make enough to buy a beer ;-)Closer to £80 with £10 voucher and cash back and some Vip points. Still only beer money especially where I drink

January 9, 20187 yr I’ve had a productive start to the new year, flipping a few and putting some by, the last couple of weeks look like this - 1x 75192 UCS falcon £650 - flipped after a week for £750 cash (will get another eventually) 4x friends riding club 41126 £27.50 each 1x Heartlake hospital 41318 £38.25 1x caterham 21307 £48 2x bb8 75187 £40 each 2x phantom £27 each and just picked up 10 city police stations for £21 each from tesco. I brought five before Xmas for £25 and doubled my money in about two weeks, wished I brought more. Today I got my chance so went for it, they should sell on Facebook all day long. Thanks to all for the guidance and knowledge on here, still learning and enjoying doing so. Gary
January 9, 20187 yr 4 x 75187 @ £21.20 each and 3 x 60141 @ £21.20 each, c/o a small Tesco store all the bigger extra stores were sold out at 50 per cent off on the bb8, but 3 of the 60141 sets were stuck on the top shelf where no price was visible. Looking high and low really does apply instore. Edited January 9, 20187 yr by grabbitfast

Gary I wonder when LEGO group gets a new, smarter marketing lead.. this is insane! selling for less than 25 % of the original UK RRP price (84.99). I obviously understand how happy you are with this catch.. but this just shows the problems of LEGO with its sales in all its nudity.. OVERPRICED RRP - just to get rid of unsold sets for 1/4 10-16 months later? in TESCO.. ?? (Im aware of the fact its one of the major partner chains .. but still .. "grocery shop.." ) .. at the end they managed to put into motion totally twisted business circle when the focus group (aka parents with children) can in many cases hardly afford a new set from the shelf.. only to have them later sold at similar "disguisting" prices to resellers - who in turn sell them again overpriced on the secondary market.. .. and then have ppl rambling about ever increasing prices of new sets brought to the market..
January 10, 20187 yr nice picture btw.. I admire your layout.. pretty cool (you could just put them next to each other, but this is really nice setting)
January 10, 20187 yr This is one of (probably my only) regrets about leaving the UK, great discounts on Lego and still some good flipping opportunities. You don’t get anything like this in Australia.
January 10, 20187 yr Fellow Brits I think he's giving us some stick! Apparently occasional discounts on Lego is all that good about us!! as for discounts. The US gets the best, whole themes for 50% off or more. Those guys are filling their cars as we speak. Over in the Uk yes we get the occoasionK good deal but they are often limited to a few sets and only at a handful of stores. I got lucky this time, but most deal chases are a bust.

The whole reason prices go so low at Tesco in store is the value of the shelf space. It's as simple as that and has very little of anything to do with Lego marketing. Once Christmas has passed Tesco need the extra space they allocated to toys back for other items like Valentines stuff & Easter Eggs

Instead of selling sets at rock-bottom prices, why not just ship them back to warehouse? These heavy assault walkers are going to be available for over a year, and Tesco will get more shipments of them for Direct, even if they are no longer kept in store.

It´s probably not worth their while doing lots of movements. Gets people into shops to buy other stuff too.

Do you not think the accountants at Tesco have costed this out? Packing up and sending back partial pallets, susceptible to damage, then pushing back into general stock probably costs more than the part of the discount they have to eat.

Tesco do return some stock back to wherever, but its a whole convoluted process and not worth doing for maybe a couple of sets per store at most, AND you would end up with sets in the direct warehouse with possible shelf wear, tag damage and maybe even stolen parts. Just not even slightly worth it, mark em down, get em out.

Shelf space is valuable real estate in all shops and the opportunity cost of having a set sat on the shelf is likely higher then selling it off cheap. Also, a lot of supermarkets have loss-leaders to encourage customers to spend more while in store. Tesco are making good money, taking over the universe so they're doing something right. I've been to all branches within 25 miles of Reading that I'm aware of and I've seen none of these 75% off deals that others have mentioned. I no longer go out of my way to goose-chase, but I will pop in to take a look when passing. I did speak to a manager at The Meadows last year when they had the 60104 airport for £36 and 3-for-2, he was very helpful and got another 24 sets from out the back for me and said "you can take them all if you want", or course, it was rude to refuse ;-) They were desperate for shelf space to put out all the Xmas crap. 11 hours ago, andyposterfan said: 2 more BB8s for £21.20.
