35 lbs of Lego bulk for $225 from Goodwill.  Bonus points if you can tell me why, based on this photo, I was so anxious to get this lot.  (California 92563 is ineligible to give a reason).

 

Best of luck, but without seeing any other medium or dark blue pieces(maybe in other pictures) I would say that plate is an "attention getter" piece to make buyers think something valuable is in there.  It's just placed too neatly on top for me.  I hope it works out, but I've been burned by those crooks and won't ever buy from SGW again.

Oh I hear you. I've had my share of burns from SGW too. Soon, I hope to start writing blogs and/or threads that talks about it I greater detail. I had a price point in mind. At that price, 35 lbs in bulk is still a good price. If Market Street is in there I've got a good payday coming. If not, m buy in is low enough that I can recoup my money just cherry picking first and then selling the entire lot. Stay turned for more about shopping in Shop Goodwill.

how have you been burned

Bought a 7662 MTT that was stated to be "open, but sealed bags" and got an incomplete one in some sealed bags and some ziplocs.  This was probably 3 years ago at least and the lots still look the same as before.  They know what they are doing.

Bought battle of five armies and attack on lake town - both at Smyths and both around half price

I bought recently a 75016 rebels imperial assault carrier

was open damaged box

typical goodwill disclaimer that who knows if complete

I tried to look at bags and identify parts

I was afraid Sabine would be missing but entirely complete it was

got it shipped for around $70

The milano's were from John Lewis. I got them to price match asda. If you local john lewis doesn't have any, try TRU price match. JL usually do this even if the item is out of stock (as is the case with asda). TRU are hit and miss. I did the same thing last month with the SD @ £68.99 and AT-AT @ £57.99 that were on offer on argos, and got 4 each from TRU. I have been refused in the past because the item was OOS.

The dec office and slave one were both from ebay, on auction listings from the same seller. They were listed in home appliances, so I used my 10% off electronics voucher If bought these same sets from him in the past @ £107 and £135 with no problems. He is based in Germany.

 

Xmen sets from beat my price on bespoke offers. got them to beat amazons price of £34ea. Came to £92ish for 3, then 15% (£13.87) cash back from Quidco. All tracked fine.

Bought Parisian Restaurant yesterday from LEGO Shop at Home - received Pirate promo again. ARRRRRRR!

Case of series 14. Target. They were in the back. I asked NICELY and they brought one out for me. Employee said his manager told him I could only buy 10 because they go fast, but he would put the rest of them on the shelf. I paid for my 10 then went back for the rest. Now, do I push my luck and try for more...? This series is so damn cool, and this is coming from a guy who doesn't collect CMF.
