i removed newbie's post about the ecto-1 deal along with 2 related posts.  nevertheless, paying below retail for this set is pretty nice since it's not really discounted like the BTTF set was.

I bought a Ghostbusters Ecto-1 for $41 shipped, no tax off of ebay.  Think I got a pretty darn good deal.

if i could buy them at any discount its a good buy.  nice job.  ill probably end up getting them for full retail by 5s in a few weeks.

Today is that special day at TRU where the 40% BOGO on City/Star Wars (ends this weekend) stacks with the 10% CC offer.  Time to hit all my TRUs:  Here's the haul.  Note, I do pay sales tax at 7.75%.  I also get 8% back in TRU rewards, which makes that effectively a wash.  Hence, prices below are true-price, out-the-door.

 

6x Mine 4204, $57.58/ea

4x Mine Excavator 4203, $25.18/ea

4x SW Jedi Cruiser, $53.98/ea

4x SW MTT Transport, $64.79/ea

8x Ninjango Mechdragon, $17.98/ea

 

The Mechdragons are literally a steal at this price.  I've been moving them off the local Craigslist for $40 easily.  Did someone figure the part-out value on these?  Don't they have 5 minifigs or something?  I've honestly not looked closely.    Wonder what those would bring at my local Bricks and Minifigs store.  EDIT: checked the box, looks like 5 minifigs and 691 pieces.  That's 2.6 cents/piece, wow!  Better deal than the creative tower.

I, too, picked up a couple of MechDragons today.  So much for never owning a Ninjago set!  LOL

 

At 2.6/cents a part, it's a great deal.  Good to know you've been moving them at $40 on CL.  I should have probably picked up the others then.

 

I ran a quick estimate on BL, and got about $75 as part out value.  Not a bad deal at all.

 

As for me, here's what I picked up today:

2x Anakin's Jedi Starfighter polybag (BOGO 40%)

1x 79105 TMNT Baxter Robot Rampage (I had no idea this was retired, with a RRP of $40!) - $20

 

With $30 in Rewards, plus a $5 off coupon, plus 10% TRU CC day, but the BOGO 40% on SW sets, I got out of there for $30.

You are right. That is a very good deal. I have not seen any discounts on this set yet.

TRU BOGO deal where I got:

 

2 Jedi Cruisers at $54/ea.  Happy with that.  

 

Seal codes are 12R4.  Thought that was interesting because the store didn't have any out past weekend.  Then 3 were out today for the BOGO.  Maybe they pulled them deep from the back room stock? 

 

Also an important note, I checked online on all TRU's within 40 miles of me and it basically said that every single store had just about nothing left as far as Star Wars and Friends sets.  So I almost didn't go. I was annoyed by that but I said "well I'll at least check".   Sure enough, they have quite a few of everything and friends sets that again, they didn't have past weekend.  

 

So point is, don't trust the online stock, it's clearly not updated.  

Speaking of TRU Friends sets, what's the hot items?  I've not followed this line.  There were a bunch at my local TRU, Heartland this and that.  Anything worth picking up BOGO 40+10?

I picked up a few friends set for my niece's bday.  They have been flying off the shelves with this deal.  For investing, not so sure.  The fakes have knocked off many smaller sets and figures.  

 

I like the Dolphin Cruiser and Sunshine Ranch for sure.  But outside those, I've been staying away from friends for investing.  But with BOGO and 10% stack with CC today, it's totally worth getting a couple larger ones and taking a shot at them.
