Retiring Soon - open speculation

To continue an earlier thread, here are the sets listed on S@H as "Retiring Soon":

Friends - Stephanie's Cool Convertible, Olivia's Speedboat, Mia's Bedroom, Series 1 foil packs

Duplo - Train Starter Set, Doctor's Clinic, Emergency Helicopter

Creator - Apple Tree House

Lego Games - Ninjago, Pirate Plank

Chima Speedorz - CHI Battles, Ring of Fire, Target Practice, CHI Waterfall

Technic - Mini Container Truck

LOTR - Gandalf Arrives, Orc Forge

CMF - Series 9

Architecture - Sugnyemun

Marvel Super Heroes - Captain America's Avenging Cycle

Star Wars - Endor Rebel Trooper and Imperial Trooper Battle Pack, Planet Bespin & Twin Cloud Car, Planet Endor & AT-ST

Nothing earth-shattering.  Orc Forge surprises me the most.

  • Here you go. Are likes important? ^^ Anyway, I find it interesting that the City Vulcan sets are also seem to be done. They are from last year, so they are not really that old. Did a pretty good

  • I'm feeling generous and seems Cladner and Val-E are working to hard at this,  might as well simplify their jobs for the holidays.  Plus some of these need to disappear quicker... 10815

  • Chris, I think you're coming in at a time where the LEGO reselling party is coming to an end. I'm not saying there is no more money to be made; what I'm saying is that the ship is full and the general

The sets that have been "extended" like harry potter charms and bugatti have been sold out for quite some time. Are they expected to come back later in the year for the holidays?

Good question.  Sometimes I see Charms at Target, but yeah I wonder about a lot of sets.  Hard to know what are supply issues, new strategies, or "real" retirements -- not everyone except Amazon . . .

Charms has returned in uk, currently on backorder limit 10. Only seen it at lego though, not at any retailer stores.

So after they teased a quick retirement for Ninjago City Gardens, the pushed it back not 1 but 2 years! I wonder how much of that was due to the sudden surge in reseller demand after it was on early 2022 EOL lists.

whew..almost pulled the trigger...the quick turnaround prevented a sale on these...now it's more than likely to be discounted for BF and the like.

Muppets retiring in August? huh?

Those specialty licensed minifigures are basically one-shot deals.  Blink and you miss 'em.

Amazon is the only place left to get 71035, the six pack.  Sold out everywhere else, including LEGO.

the set was released on 05/08/2022 so no surprise there. Give it couple of months and it will be everywhere.

Shockers are:

- Elvis Presley Art (only 9 months?)

- Squirrel Battle Pack (aka Picnic in the Park) (only 12 months?)

- Iron Man and Miles Morales Bricksketches (only 8 months?)

- 3 Farm sets that haven't even been released yet are already set to retire at the end of the year? Same for the Friends Surf School.

- Technic F150 Raptor (only 14 months?)

I think this list needs to be taken with a significant amount of NaCl.

I'm very interested to see what happens with the Imperial Star Destroyer. I think I'm right in saying that it'll be the most expensive Lego set ever to retire, so how much will people a) be willing to invest in them and b) be willing to pay for them post retirement?

the first tells the bartender I want a glass of H20

the 2nd guy tells the bartender I want a glass of water too

1st guy is pissed his attempt to poison his colleagued failed

These lists don't mean much.

I recall stonewars were the first to get Barracuda and the Disney Train last year. But that was in October, I think. So yes, the grain of salt sound right but it's a good source.

Its been the general consensus that LEGO is putting out a lot more volume than past years...I would think this would also suggest retirement strategies have also changed for LEGO.

These lists represent a mix of info sources, but a lot of it is due to past "shelf life" which is looking less and less reliable.

LEGO has access to crazy amounts of marketing data (not available just a few years ago)...clearly a new paradigm in terms of shelf life and retirement is upon us.

The beneficaries of these public 'lists' are Lego, Amazon, ebay, couriers, storage companies and factories that make feather dusters.

Yep, they are completely worthless.

I made my picks for this year's retirement based on the lists...if it goes sideways it will be my last year giving them any merit.

What about the Ideas Tree House 21318? I hope it will retire this year.
