Retiring Soon - open speculation

To continue an earlier thread, here are the sets listed on S@H as "Retiring Soon":

Friends - Stephanie's Cool Convertible, Olivia's Speedboat, Mia's Bedroom, Series 1 foil packs

Duplo - Train Starter Set, Doctor's Clinic, Emergency Helicopter

Creator - Apple Tree House

Lego Games - Ninjago, Pirate Plank

Chima Speedorz - CHI Battles, Ring of Fire, Target Practice, CHI Waterfall

Technic - Mini Container Truck

LOTR - Gandalf Arrives, Orc Forge

CMF - Series 9

Architecture - Sugnyemun

Marvel Super Heroes - Captain America's Avenging Cycle

Star Wars - Endor Rebel Trooper and Imperial Trooper Battle Pack, Planet Bespin & Twin Cloud Car, Planet Endor & AT-ST

Nothing earth-shattering.  Orc Forge surprises me the most.

  • Here you go. Are likes important? ^^ Anyway, I find it interesting that the City Vulcan sets are also seem to be done. They are from last year, so they are not really that old. Did a pretty good

  • I'm feeling generous and seems Cladner and Val-E are working to hard at this,  might as well simplify their jobs for the holidays.  Plus some of these need to disappear quicker... 10815

  • Chris, I think you're coming in at a time where the LEGO reselling party is coming to an end. I'm not saying there is no more money to be made; what I'm saying is that the ship is full and the general

Yes, there has stuff that's been gone for years and never marked retired, or still available at another retailer.

Any idea when 71040 (Disney Castle) will retire, year released: 2016?

Since LEGO has the Disney Licence, maybe for eternity, don't hold your breath.

I expect retiring this year after 3.5 years life, what is more than average. But - its a that kind of set, which life can be special - so I am giving just 50% on retiring this year. It can easy live next year, another year, etc. So it is very risky to buy it without "retiring soon" notice...

I would be shocked if this set retires in the next five years.

If and when it retires, I expect a re-vamp a couple of months later with a new Mickey mini-fig headpiece an added blue brick separator and labeled UCS.

RRP: $800

where did that tabby retiring thread go, didn't he want his account deleting 31 March ? ?

Rumor is castle is going sooner then later... last update was 12/31/20 from the extension last year,  but could always move up a year,  won't know for a few months for sure

Now is a good time to buy with 2x VIP. I doubt this set gets discounted even with retirement potentially looming.

This set will be discounted for sure, just have to wait. It will not retire for at least 2 more years. I would not touch this set even with 25% discount, the risk is too big. Also huge box to store.

Hard or soft Tabbexit?

Ravenb has spoken - let all other remarks be stricken from the record!

T1, Tower Bridge, and Disney Castle?

Alex, I’ll take “sets that won’t retire during this century” for $2000.

I've had two different stores tell me the Castle will be retiring this year, but they haven't been told an exact date.

With the Disney train supposedly coming out, I’m not sure why they would retire it. I can’t wait to add the train to my castle.
