THe whole point of the last few posts is that sets that were available at a lot of stores become toy r us exclusives. I know VC was available almost everywhere.

  • Here you go. Are likes important? ^^ Anyway, I find it interesting that the City Vulcan sets are also seem to be done. They are from last year, so they are not really that old. Did a pretty good

  • I'm feeling generous and seems Cladner and Val-E are working to hard at this,  might as well simplify their jobs for the holidays.  Plus some of these need to disappear quicker... 10815

  • Chris, I think you're coming in at a time where the LEGO reselling party is coming to an end. I'm not saying there is no more money to be made; what I'm saying is that the ship is full and the general

but what if tru only gets large sets modulars exclusives and such then short term flippers will benefit and long term large set investors will be in the toilet because then you will be saying i should have bought small sets and not all the large sets since they are available with tru in the long run and will be around for a lot longer and people that hold for the long term will have to hold longer and the short term flippers will be flipping and making money faster (edited for run on sentence to help long term investors that read emazers posts understand better)

I ignored your post.

The bottom line is that if TRU starts extending the retail shelf life of more and more sets(small or large, LEGO exclusive or not), the whole LEGO investing business just got that much harder to participate in for a large group of investors/resellers. Even for a long term investor like myself, I would rather see paper profits, than no profits. While it might only affect a handful of sets on regular basis, it might also be the most popular sets for investment that are earmarked as TRU exclusives.

For those that have been in the game for 2-3 years, it wouldn't change much. For those who are just getting in, it would be tough to swallow.

Of course it affects people who have been doing this for a long time. Our older stashes only go so far. Once they're gone they are replaced with the same sets everyone else is buying now.

Right, but you would also be able to liquidate much quicker to invest in other sets.

All right then, my QFLL hat is back on :-)

So the week I purchase my first every modular, a few GEs, I find out it is no longer going to be exclusively exclusive?  What a bummer.  I guess I should be glad I didn't load up on these over the past 2-3 years, something I planned to do with the current line of modulars.  I might reconsider that strategy now.

If this becomes a pattern it will be wreak havoc on the reseller market as a whole. Traditional long-term investors might shift their strategy to the short-term, which creates more supply in that space, driving prices down further.  Committed long-term investors will be stuck with inventory and no way to move it without selling for undesirable prices.

Or perhaps this is just a TRU tactic to try and promote certain stock that is rotting away in their warehouse and not part of some corporate strategy to become the official LEGO reseller?

I guess I'm neutral on this one because I only have a few VCs and GEs but it does deflate the atmosphere a bit knowing that TRU might be the new emazers.

So who is going to stay the course and continue to load up on exclusives?

So once we liquidate the older stuff, what other sets will be reinvesting in?

I have couple of hearses and big zoos that could sell you for a reasonable price...

Yes keep buying the Exclusives, just because Toys R US put Exclusive on the GE everybody is going to panic, there is no way Toys R US will have all the Exclusives that retire on Lego as there Exclusive for a long time. When it says retired on Lego they are not being made anymore. So I am going to keep getting more SSD,GE,Camper, etc.   Ed

My waters have been calmed.

Can we have a button for that, like the like one?

Then we would have to get an "ignore" button that "ignores" the "ignore" button. Just press the ignore button now.

Can we get this thread back on track somehow? Pretty please?

Everyone is just patiently waiting stuff to retire so I'm the mean time let's just argue how soon to the world ends. Now we've had 50+ posts of "my opinion is better" posts, when some legitimate information arises I will be swiping past this thread missing vital information. I am all for derailments but this is beyond productive. Can we move this discussion to somewhere to unclog this wonderful thread?
