Retiring Soon - open speculation

To continue an earlier thread, here are the sets listed on S@H as "Retiring Soon":

Friends - Stephanie's Cool Convertible, Olivia's Speedboat, Mia's Bedroom, Series 1 foil packs

Duplo - Train Starter Set, Doctor's Clinic, Emergency Helicopter

Creator - Apple Tree House

Lego Games - Ninjago, Pirate Plank

Chima Speedorz - CHI Battles, Ring of Fire, Target Practice, CHI Waterfall

Technic - Mini Container Truck

LOTR - Gandalf Arrives, Orc Forge

CMF - Series 9

Architecture - Sugnyemun

Marvel Super Heroes - Captain America's Avenging Cycle

Star Wars - Endor Rebel Trooper and Imperial Trooper Battle Pack, Planet Bespin & Twin Cloud Car, Planet Endor & AT-ST

Nothing earth-shattering.  Orc Forge surprises me the most.

  • Here you go. Are likes important? ^^ Anyway, I find it interesting that the City Vulcan sets are also seem to be done. They are from last year, so they are not really that old. Did a pretty good

  • I'm feeling generous and seems Cladner and Val-E are working to hard at this,  might as well simplify their jobs for the holidays.  Plus some of these need to disappear quicker... 10815

  • Chris, I think you're coming in at a time where the LEGO reselling party is coming to an end. I'm not saying there is no more money to be made; what I'm saying is that the ship is full and the general

On the colour of "Sold Out":

Just witnessed 71010 Serial 14 CMF restored from yesterday's RED "SOLD OUT" to "Available".

That's a little disturbing.  I noticed recently some of the Star Wars sets went from orange "sold out" to red "sold out"

Yah I've also noticed some red sold out go back to available. I feel like red is either they changed it to be permanently sold out, or it's physically sold out, while orange is they changed it to be temporarily sold out with a possibility of being permanently sold out. So, neither are very reliable, but you'd see it change from orange to red if it went from temporary to permanent, or you'd see it go straight to red if there was a wave of purchases, or they wanted to send it to retirement. But you'd assumably never see it go from red to orange, unless they're being very diligent about the status, which seems unlikely. I haven't really been keeping tabs on this though. Does that make sense? Thoughts?

I've stopped spending any time or energy trying to figure out what those colors mean.  It has something to do with something happening behind the scenes at LEGO Shop at Home and that's where I'm stopping with it.

Technic 42029 is not available on the Australian LEGO Shop at Home any more.

Please mention set name as well.

I think I know what the answer is to all the questions regarding the Lego website.

It's run by the Illuminati.  Discuss...

Creator 31026 Bike Shop & Cafè is call to check in Europe

Lego Architecture 21011 Brandenburg Gate was call to check yesterday morning on LEGO Shop at Home EU and the listing has completely disappeared as of today so I guess we can safely say - it's retired.

Probably these news messages about Lego having production problems and that lego would be getting scarce during the holidays is all a fairytale.

From what I heard, the lack of bricks in more a problem for US of which production is partly shipped into Asia where demand is far stronger than expected and local production capacity is delayed.

It seems that Europe hasn't seen any shortage at all.

This thread is only for actual retirement.  When it says "retired product".  Outside of that it is speculation.  Thank you for the update though.

Well when you take a look at the LEGO Shop at Home Europe page you might find that not everything gets a retired mark - when stuff retires they just delete the listing completely. If you think that's not enough confirmation of retirement for you than so be it.

edit: It's officially marked as retired on the UK version of LEGO Shop at Home - all other EU language version sites of LEGO Shop at Home EU just get the listing deleted completely when a set is retired:-)

I think the shortage is there for certain sets. Observations in my area at various department and toy stores: Disney princesses is nearly non existing (has anybody seen any Elsa's lately?) same goes for Minecraft, City is there in abundance, SW is still widely available except for some sets as well. Ninjago is getting scarcer by the day...

Here, SW big sets are hard to find as is Minecraft. Ninjago and City easy. Friends and others somewhere in between.

The German site was the one that had "limited" next to Exo too.

Maybe it is hard to believe. But even Exo had a limit. Eventually.

Same on the UK site (as are DS and R5)... is this info reliable or about as reliable as "what i heard from a lego store employee"?

Is Lego getting this desperate?

Is the Tumbler such a bad seller or is there a new UCS Batmobile on the horizon?

A new batman movie coming out...  I think seeing a variety of UCS batmobiles will be a common staple.

The Coruscant Police Gunship has gone to red sold out status on Shop at Home US this week.  I noticed for a TRU exclusive that stock was pretty thin at retail stores around here even before Black Friday and the $35 sale seemed to have wiped out their warehouse quickly.  It sold out on Shop at Home without a discount.  Could be a nice sleeper set if it even qualifies since it's Star Wars.

Sounds like F5 season is about to start soon. :geek:
