Retiring Soon - open speculation

To continue an earlier thread, here are the sets listed on S@H as "Retiring Soon":

Friends - Stephanie's Cool Convertible, Olivia's Speedboat, Mia's Bedroom, Series 1 foil packs

Duplo - Train Starter Set, Doctor's Clinic, Emergency Helicopter

Creator - Apple Tree House

Lego Games - Ninjago, Pirate Plank

Chima Speedorz - CHI Battles, Ring of Fire, Target Practice, CHI Waterfall

Technic - Mini Container Truck

LOTR - Gandalf Arrives, Orc Forge

CMF - Series 9

Architecture - Sugnyemun

Marvel Super Heroes - Captain America's Avenging Cycle

Star Wars - Endor Rebel Trooper and Imperial Trooper Battle Pack, Planet Bespin & Twin Cloud Car, Planet Endor & AT-ST

Nothing earth-shattering.  Orc Forge surprises me the most.

  • Here you go. Are likes important? ^^ Anyway, I find it interesting that the City Vulcan sets are also seem to be done. They are from last year, so they are not really that old. Did a pretty good

  • I'm feeling generous and seems Cladner and Val-E are working to hard at this,  might as well simplify their jobs for the holidays.  Plus some of these need to disappear quicker... 10815

  • Chris, I think you're coming in at a time where the LEGO reselling party is coming to an end. I'm not saying there is no more money to be made; what I'm saying is that the ship is full and the general

This is way too soon IMHO.
Kids (and parents) do not buy only SW and marvel stuff, lots of them still buy city sets.

These sets stays longer on shelves usually (about 2 years). I don't mean it can't retire soon (who knows) but I would better think about the famous lego shortage we all have heard about.

About the 42024 set, certainly its time has come to leave the catalog.

If it´s reduced it´s a slow seller. If it´s a slow seller it can get the chop. Let´s see what happens as the excavator and truck from same line are done.

There's a good amount of sets that are retired after a year (or less) on the shelf. We simply don't talk about them because they aren't the big names--look at the Logging Truck from last year. It spent ~12 months at retail, gone, and now sells at 3x RPP via Amazon FBA.

technic service truck is not available on the Australian LEGO Shop at Home any more.

60035 arctic outpost C2C at eu shop. Helicopter back ordered. Smells done to me.

60004 fire station sold out in the US too.

Surprisingly, The Ghost is resisting sold out status.

Ewok village Shipping date now Dec 9th UK LEGO Shop at Home

I have a good bit of inside knowledge on sets that are retiring and such, if people have questions shoot me a message i can most definitely answer it

I also have inside knowledge because I once worked as electrician and I have installed a spy camera into one of TLG executive room's false ceiling. Now if anybody wants verified info on retirement, please wire over 2% of RRP of the set(s) that you want to find out. Minimum charge is USD 50. Hurry, the more you buy, the more you earn!

PM me for my bank account details.

Brainiac Attack had a "retiring soon" tag for a few hours about a month ago and has been missing from every retailer except Target for a while. Wasn't expecting it to retire this early, but it should be a great pick if it stays sold out because of its short lifespan and mix of minifigures.

Brainiac Attack is a Target/LEGO exclusive so that's why you haven't seen it at other retailers.

That would certainly explain it, but I could have sworn that I saw it elsewhere earlier on.  Then again, I wasn't really paying attention to that set until recently.

The Ghost has sold out in the US - apart from the bigger Chima sets which can be found cheaper elsewhere, all the on sale stuff seems to have been wiped out.

I'm only concerned about Hydra Fortress Smash lingering at TRU for an unacceptable time period. Other than that, it's a nice set with a short life. Something makes me wonder if the T-16 is really gone.
