Retiring Soon - open speculation

To continue an earlier thread, here are the sets listed on S@H as "Retiring Soon":

Friends - Stephanie's Cool Convertible, Olivia's Speedboat, Mia's Bedroom, Series 1 foil packs

Duplo - Train Starter Set, Doctor's Clinic, Emergency Helicopter

Creator - Apple Tree House

Lego Games - Ninjago, Pirate Plank

Chima Speedorz - CHI Battles, Ring of Fire, Target Practice, CHI Waterfall

Technic - Mini Container Truck

LOTR - Gandalf Arrives, Orc Forge

CMF - Series 9

Architecture - Sugnyemun

Marvel Super Heroes - Captain America's Avenging Cycle

Star Wars - Endor Rebel Trooper and Imperial Trooper Battle Pack, Planet Bespin & Twin Cloud Car, Planet Endor & AT-ST

Nothing earth-shattering.  Orc Forge surprises me the most.

  • Here you go. Are likes important? ^^ Anyway, I find it interesting that the City Vulcan sets are also seem to be done. They are from last year, so they are not really that old. Did a pretty good

  • I'm feeling generous and seems Cladner and Val-E are working to hard at this,  might as well simplify their jobs for the holidays.  Plus some of these need to disappear quicker... 10815

  • Chris, I think you're coming in at a time where the LEGO reselling party is coming to an end. I'm not saying there is no more money to be made; what I'm saying is that the ship is full and the general

So do you think these are last production runs and the 2 limit is to help keep them around as long as possible?

It's all speculation, of course, but I certainly hope so. ;)

Another heads-up:

Damn, just saw that too. Wanted one and was dithering too long.

Well, I'm happy about the (temporarily?) availability of PS again, because it allowed me to buy one now, and still within the double VIP promo as well. :-)

You guys can keep them over there. ;)  Although, I have a feeling TB will make an appearance.:tommy:

This may have been discussed before but I'm not sure what thread to look in?  Anyone know the difference between Sold Out Sold Out at SOH?

The "o" is silent in Sold Out.

This set is still available in North America.

To add to the helpfulness, according to http://colormine.org/delta-e-calculator/ it's 46.9627.

In all seriousness, it just appears that Lego Shop @ Home uses orange in the US/Canada sites and Red in the sites across the pond. If it means something significant, I'd be surprised.

If Villa Savoye stays sold out I'm slightly suprised to see it go before Imperial Hotel.

Absolutely agree. 100%. Before the stock inventory was pulled Villa Savoye sold almost 3X more than Imperial Hotel on average...

Appreciate all the Algebra answers  :geek:

But in all seriousness, have I found a secret?    Perhaps one is permanent vs temporary?  Do some research guys, there is something to this.  Especially after you click on one.  It can go orange to red or red to red etc.  USA SOH only. There's always a method to there madness........

'cause LEGO Shop at Home's site now makes sense...

If that turns out to be true BrickU, that's a good fine. But at the same time, I agree with dcdfan. I mean, currently when I click "Next >" to go to page 2 of exclusives it takes me back to the home page.

I think it's more likely Shop at Home has exactly two developers and their favorite colors happen to be red and orange.

I was gonna say sale+sold out -> orange, sold out only-> red.

But I looked up some items of the above list... they are actually 'red outside orange inside' - red at the search results, orange after clicking it.

Tumbler has been limited availability since day one and all the signs suggest PS is not coming back in January.

PS is in stock in european legoshop... as in the US .

no EOL for PS ...  now

3x more or 3x as much?

So it makes sense that it runs our first. Also VS has been out 6 months longer so it is more likely to be done. What other Architecture sets will go this year, though?

mountain hut 31025 sold out at S&h.  lots of translucent blue bricks.

Space Needle - kill off the $19.99 MSRP price point.

how long has BSSS been sold out?

Inthe USA, since this morning.

14 a week vs 5 a week (on average)...

Leaning Tower of Pisa went to Sold Out status in the states a week ago, then it went to OOS November 7th, and is now available.  The UN Building is also a candidate I think.

I noticed this starting last week.  I track every non-retired set and its status and saw the different colors for 'Sold Out'.  I've been tracking the colors since I noticed and the color for any given set hasn't changed yet.  I've only got a couple weeks worth of data to go on, but so far I haven't seen any reason for the difference.  I was going to keep it to myself to see if there was any correlation before I said something.  I was afraid there might be something to be gained from it and by posting about it, 'someone' might fix it.  Guess that idea's shot... ;)
