I think it is more the stores are not restocking, than interest in the current sets.  LEGO is going to clean house and replace almost all of the current regular STAR WARS sets (with the exception of Rebels/UCS).  Because of the new movie(s), the typical production runs for STAR WARS sets may not apply.  Some of the current STAR WARS sets might be gone after a year or so there might be some opportunities to make some quick money on flipping short run sets.  I can't see LEGO or retailers keeping old, unrelated sets on the shelves.

Ed, welcome to the dark side..

  • Here you go. Are likes important? ^^ Anyway, I find it interesting that the City Vulcan sets are also seem to be done. They are from last year, so they are not really that old. Did a pretty good

  • I'm feeling generous and seems Cladner and Val-E are working to hard at this,  might as well simplify their jobs for the holidays.  Plus some of these need to disappear quicker... 10815

  • Chris, I think you're coming in at a time where the LEGO reselling party is coming to an end. I'm not saying there is no more money to be made; what I'm saying is that the ship is full and the general

I am concerned that none of the rumored retiring architecture sets (the UN, Space Needle, and Imperial Hotel) will retire now because these sets along with most other architecture sets just became available in Europe in January 2015 according to Brickset. Is anyone else concerned about this? And even if the sets do retire in the U.S., it would definitely hamper their growth if one can just buy for retail in Europe and ship to the US right?

They have been available for much longer than that over here - likely to be an issue about pricing or restocking.

We had a big year last year, in terms of retirement exclusive sets.  GE, SS, TH, HH, SC, R2D2, AA, HE

What's our projection this year?

DS, PS, what else?

Doing a little research on Dolphin Cruiser (41015), I think this set may be on its way out sooner rather than later. Walmart seems to be not restocking theirs, Target may or may not be, and TRU is even moving them at $56. Still avail at SAH, but I think we've seen the last production run of this set and I imagine it will be done and gone this holiday season.

It's about time for Dolphin Cruiser.  I am hoping to capitalize this holiday season but they need to start disappearing now.  I got them at a hefty discount from Meijer earlier this year.

Drawing a blank...what's SW?

Simpson's Whouse?  Slave Won?

Star Wars or Santa's Workshop. Depends what forum you're in... LOL @ Slave Won!

Okay...I am gonna go with Santa's Workshop, that makes sense.  Hard to keep all the acronyms straight these days.

Too many acronyms!  I couldn't keep track either so a while back I added up all the terms I could find in this forum, and the shopping deals forum and re-posted the expanded list to http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/209-lego-terms-and-acronyms/?do=findComment&comment=458785

It probably needs an update now that the new SW, SH, FG and other collectable sets have come out.

Hopefully TB, ToO, T1, EV, R5, and SW.

I bet that T1 will go out for sure - cannot imagine 3 cars on shelves together, after Ferrari is coming, T1 must go to EOL

Also ToO will finish this year - LOTR/Hobbit is over, TLG even suddenly finished 3.wave of Hobbit - just after 7 months life + refused Ideas Minas Tirith. So this theme is over definitely.

I expect also the end of R5 - its here already 2 years, it is over here in TRU and there is too many UCS SW sets now, so something must go out. The same situation is with EV, plus same oriented set Hoth base is coming soon, so again a reason for finishing EV

Santa Workshop - last years winter set has a classic life - coming in the autumn of year X, then disappearing in the beginning of year X+1 (temporary retired), then coming back in the autumn of year X+1 and finishing in the beginning of year X+2 - so around 14 months of life. So I expect the EOL of SW in beginning of 2016

TB - very unpredictible. It is here already 4,5 years, so should be finished soon. But no other landmark set is announced, so I can imagine that TB will live another year.

I also expect the end of PS - 4 years from the release date, now we have 4 modulars, in January is coming the next one, so something should be retired.

Also 70810 Sea Cow should go out, since the Movie sets are finishing with discounts, and there is no reason to keep this gigant set - Movie mania is over, it would be a madness to keep producing this expensive set. I expect discounts on this set in order to clean shelves for new staff.

Questionable is Simpson house - I can imagine keeping it alongside with Kwik Emart, but if something new from Simpsons is planned for 2016, then the House should go out in the beginning of 2016.
