December 4, 20169 yr Death Star Final Duel - Sold out EU/AUS From an Australian perspective there are only two eBay listings for this set at the moment and it hasn't been available at retail for 6 months at least. Might jump up a bit, then again maybe not
December 4, 20169 yr I am quite pleased with the uptick in price on the 42042! Just barely left the station and seeing some respectful gains right off the bat. Still available at retail at a couple of outlets, but disappearing fast!! The question is how many does TRU have stashed away? Like the potential for this set!
December 4, 20169 yr Hi all, I think the 75150 seems like a save bet. Usually at least the RRP should be "save", even for an overpriced set like this. Here in Germany we had some sales at 40%. off, bought quite a few of them. What makes me wonder is that they wont retire the 75102, since they have now two X-Wings in production. I can only wonder how Lego does their product planning, I mean they release a big Hoth set, retire the AT-AT and Snowspeeder shortly before but keep two X-Wings in production. Very strange Edited December 4, 20169 yr by Gnueck

Very strange I assume 75102 is a popular set with kids. My son refers to it as "the black X-Wing", which is way cooler than any other color. If kids prefer the black one, then the other one might go first.

I recently listed the rest of my stock (about four leftovers) for 280€ at Amazon. They were gone in two days Same story with the Star Destroyer 75055. For these there are now quite some crappy sets out there
December 4, 20169 yr WH sold out at amazon It's been sold out many times before. Hopefully it's for good this time.

Good, also 21020 TF is doing well on eBay already and it's been only a week since retirement. I can nearly get 2x of the Tesco 3-for-2. Since there's still scope for futher growth and some of us were caught out, I think these could be 3x buy-in next year (RRP + 60%). However, we're now in an uncertain era when sets could return!
December 4, 20169 yr Yeah, I never saw too much hype about 21020 on here (although I'm sure people were quietly stocking up) and it went relatively quickly after the retiring soon tag. Also not too many good deals on it apart from the Tesco 3-4-2 but it went pretty quickly in that too. I'm hoping it could do pretty well.

We had no Tesco deal in Germany but could get the set discounted to 37.99 Euro (from 50 Euro). So still a good deal at all. It is still available at 40 Euro at ToysRUs - thinking about buying another ten of them.. I have recognized why some Architecture sets are doing well and the other not - the main reason (beside short shelf life) is the existence of many transparent bricks inside a well doing set like Fallingwater... Opposite example is the Imperial Hotel with only 40 1x1 black transparent bricks. After 21020 Louvre is a good candidate for investing, but already now massively hoarded due to 20 or more percent discount. Edited December 4, 20169 yr by mauro23

I know there has been alot of doom and gloom recently, but it shows if you pick the right sets they can buck the trend and only weeks after retirement show promising returns. There are less and less sets that will perform like this, but they are there. Just need to hope they keep on going up... I've made alot of beginner mistakes, and one which I am noticing now is that I am diversifying way too much. I need to pick less sets which are more promising, than just willy nilly lots of sets and taking gambles etc. Luckily most of the sets I have chosen have done ok, but I have also had my fair share of turds.
December 4, 20169 yr Of the 18 retiring soon sets in the US, only Disney figs, Silth, Luke Skywalker and Obi Wan are still available. TBBT is now C2C. In Europe, of the 290 or so tagged sets, 218 are now on backorder, sold out or retired.
December 4, 20169 yr Funny how the Lego Ideas theme shows the Maze graphics as banner, while the Maze set is not listed on LEGO Shop at Home any longer. Yet the remaining Ideas sets with the Retiring Soon label are all readily available!

I have more 21006 & 21020 than any other set (it's a lot!) and I finally feel my mojo coming back. However, I'm done 100% with Star Wars. My very last Red 5s are going to BP members for break-even, TFFT !!! I think Slave I and Tie Fighter will be next. SSDs and R2-D2 are the only ones worth keeping. I'm stiil bailing and taking some time out once my stash has gone. No more buying for me apart from my personal collection.

I bought them for 160 and sold 20 of them between 320 and 370€ in less then one year oO But I agree with you that the big profit with Star Wars seems to be over Edited December 4, 20169 yr by Gnueck

I had one listed for £200 posted a few weeks agon and no takers! Even if there is some profit in Star Wars, there's more profit elsewhere. Today I made more profit on a Trevi Fountain in 7 days than a Red 5 in 2 years!

On the other hand, AT-AT has been spectacular. Maybe the Empire is just more in vogue at the moment.

December 6, 20169 yr For what it's worth visited two lego stores today. Only saw one store with one SC in stock. The Porshe looked stunning in all it's glory. A few SOH's in the wild. One left in each store. TOA was in full stock back at both stores. Full price. Edited December 6, 20169 yr by LegoBro
