Conclusion. If TIE UCS were to retire this year, it would be the next Town Hall as a lot of folk haven´t made their number.

  • I'm feeling generous and seems Cladner and Val-E are working to hard at this,  might as well simplify their jobs for the holidays.  Plus some of these need to disappear quicker... 10815

  • Chris, I think you're coming in at a time where the LEGO reselling party is coming to an end. I'm not saying there is no more money to be made; what I'm saying is that the ship is full and the general

It´s probably more pertinent and on-topic to ask how many Dr Whos people have bought this week. We know that Tabby´s 40ft container is now full of Tardises.

I bought 2x Dr. Who last week - now totals THREE all together. I'm not sure wether this show is popular in Central Europe?!
Any German neighbor out there who may tell me that I'm wrong? :)

Is it poll time?  Can someone do a "How many of <UCS Tie, Slave-I, SC, EV> do you have" so we can all have something to talk about.  DD has been slow and I'm ignoring all people and threads who talk about knock-offs...

1, 0, 3, 1

I think I will stop at these quantities.

Slave-1 looks like a pilferer. Just cannot find an excuse to buy it.

I'm not sure it's really popular but it looks like a great parts pack, and it was only available from LEGO directly which limits supply somewhat.

I don't part out sets - too much work. I also don't think that people will be willing to pay 1,5-2x MSRP only for some special parts.
Does anyone have experience regarding this habit?

Wow, you must be very sure about the Ewok Village to stockpile it in such big numbers?!

1 personal build/ 1 used personal/ 0 as I just did not like this one as much/ 4 (1 is personal) my daughter really liked this set and has been good at picking other winners, so figured it was worth the risk.

I usually only buy when I get great discounts (I seem to get most clearence rounds but no store near me sells these sets) or lots of used stuff.

Not at all sure about it, but I got them all for 35-40% off so I'd have to try really hard not to make profit on them.

I have two complete and sealed Ewok Villages. Depending on how the set value develops after retiring I might just sell some of the figures and keep the rest as an add-on to my built Ewok Village. So due to this uncertainty I wrote "1.5". :)

My NISB stash: 1, 1, 1, 2. Plus another Slave-1 which I have built and on display. :)

(And of last year's retired UCS sets I have 2 Red Five and 2 Tumblers NIB).

By the way, my stash of Doctor Who sets is: 3 MISB, and another one built and on display. After official retirement t will go up in value in The Netherlands, but I don't expect spectacular profits with it. Since the Doctor Who set is only available through Lego LEGO Shop at Home here, the supply will be limited.

I'm really small-time compared to most Brickpickers here. :P

The numbers posted so far seem low to me. I've seen the pictures in the stockroom thread, you guys don't mess around. I'm up to 7,7,6,7 now. Average buy-in for the TIE's and Slave's was about 170€, SC 280€ and EV 200€. The only retired UCS sets I have left are one Y-Wing, two B-Wings and a Red Five.

Dr Who has been available from amazon uk at 30-35% off for months and also discounted at several large uk retailers.

Surely in the UK it's different but I was talking about the situation in Germany. Some sets that are widely available in the UK (e.g. Doctor Who or Scooby Doo) are only available here directly from LEGO (LEGO Shop at Home plus 11 retail stores nationwide).

You'll still be competing with uk sellers though. I think there will be a lot of uk sellers who will have bought this cheap and be willing to sell for RRP or less for a €10 profit. They're doing it already and it's not even retired yet.

There will always be buyers who prefer buying from domestic sellers to avoid the hassle of dealing with a seller and a postal postal-service from a foreign country in case something goes wrong. So my asking prices can be higher.

This is very true. Of course there are also a lot of sellers in Germany, but a lot of buyers prefer to buy locally only even if it doesn't always make sense.

And what makes you believe that there is not a ton of domestic sellers who ordered Dr. Who from the UK at a discount?

Seems like Angry Birds is retiring soon. Lego has this on the website.

Has anyone actually bought any of this?

I actually bought one castle and one boat at almost 50% off. You won't get a better discount in Europe. They just looked like fun builds with great play value. I don't believe in any investment potential. I never did as a matter of fact.

"... before they fly off the shelves"

Well I don't see that happening any time soon.

I haven't. They are too far away from what I see as Lego.
