I just want to give members some heads up to what is going on with the Brickpoints system as of today...

As you all know there was a major conversion done to the site over to the new IP Forum and Blog system.  To enable us to make the site more interactive and state of the art, this had to be done.  The old Brickpoints log had to be scrapped.  Jeff has yet to create a new one, focusing his energies to other, more important features of the site that needs his attention.  Needless to say, the Brickpoints are being tallied as usual, just the Brickpoints given for approved reviews are being tallied separately since approximately June 1, 2013.  Some of you have wondered about this and I will tell you to just sit tight and be patient.  No one will lose any Brickpoints in the process and Jeff recorded everything when the conversion took place.  A new total for Brickpoints will be tallied when the new site features are implemented.

Please be patient with this.  We are working on some really neat ideas that will include the Brickpoints as a form of site currency that will enable you to do a multitude of activities with them.  Until we have more concrete features to show you, I will leave it at that, but I will tell you there are some neat and creative new features in the pipeline that are being worked on as I write this.  When we are ready to release the new features, I will post the dozens of ways you can obtain Brickpoints and the really cool ways to use them...or spend them.   :ok:

On a side note, you will notice a small notation showing your Brickpoints under your name and avatar on the foums.  This is just a small example of things that are happening behind the scenes...

So since we can also "arrow down" someone's post, does that mean that they lose BrickPoints, or does the count only go up?

Like Ed mentioned in his post, there will be a complete rundown on what everything is worth and what is available for points.  For right now, just use the forums.  Help one another, post good stuff, have fun.  Ed and I have a lot of work to do. When its ready, a full explanation will be given.  As of right now, no points are subtracted for any negative comments.

I am not 100% certain, but I think you lose 1 BP for each arrow down.

Scratch that. See post above.

I don't think that you can take someones points away.

Good, since it seems I just earned my first "arrow down"!

Sorry, Fcbarcelona, but you were my experiment and I "arrow down"'ed your post. Seeing as I cannot undo this, I just "arrowed up" another post.

Sounds good. Don't worry.

Time to whip out the metaphorical pen and ink, I guess!  I've been pretty busy at work but am looking forward to writing and reading more about my favorite hobby over the summer.  Brickpoints are a nice extra!

I arrowed up the one you arrowed down!  Anyone confused?

Herm... I guess we can delete my last comment on the "experiment", if a Moderator feels like plugging themselves back into the conversation...

So what you are essentially saying is 1 BP per post.

Maybe for one of your posts. Get my point? If you have something valuable to say and people like it, it could be worth 5 points, or 10 points.

I think we're getting a little too ahead of ourselves worrying about the Brickpoint numbers. I'm wondering if leaving them off our avatars would've been a better option until the full explanation came down the pipe.

It is a little distracting.  Maybe if they were just under a members profile, members would get more hits on their pages.

Man you guys are whiny tonight. QuitcherBitchin :)

A new award is coming soon...The Whiner. :notfair:

Glad the numbers are no longer there. I'll eagerly await the proper release with all disclosures.

Sounds awesome. CANNOTWAIT for Brickclassifieds. But alas, I guess I will have to...

Keep up the awesome work guys!

Oooh brickclassifieds sounds cool. Better start saving my pennies!

Also, noob question here.  Where can I find my Brickpoints total?  I remember before the update that there was a place to see how many you had, and where they accumulated from.  Now I can't seem to find that.  Sorry if this is already explained somewhere.

It's right in your little poster information box. Right below your icon of "BrickPicker" in a shaded gray box it reads the number of brick points. You can also check them by going to your profile then choosing BrickPoints from the tabs on the side.

Oh okay, thanks comicblast.
