AMZ no longer accepting applications to sell?

Featured Replies

I just found out AMZ has brand gated me to sell all LEGO products without any explanations, remedy or timeframe. I don't even have an "apply to Sell" button when I tried to add a product.

I have been selling for years and over 1000+ sets and my acct health has always been in good standing with only a handful of returns. I really don't understand where this is coming from. Does anyone have a similar experience? Any help would be much appreciated. THX!

Here is a screenshot when I tried to "request for approval":

Selling Application

We are not accepting applications to sell:
  • Other $LEGO branded in New, Used, Refurbished, Collectible condition(s)
  • Other Toys & Games category in Used, Refurbished condition(s)

Did you have sets already at amazon or did you try selling now after a break? There were a few waves of amazon gating people recently out of the blue, and making them recall their inventory.

No I had sold all of my sets at AMZ and took a 11 month break. I still have them in my listing but absolutely nothing in my inventory. Thanks for your reply!

A month or so ago, Amazon starting brand gating sellers that had been inactive for some period of time along with new sellers.  It's not clear whether it is temporary and will lift after Q4 or is permanent (or at least as permanent as Amazon ever is).

I just sold a set last week and got a nasty surprise today when I checked my Lego inventory, all my Lego listings have been deactivated on Dec 5, 2024. Kinda upset Amazon is doing this to the small sellers maybe in favor of big distributors.

This has happened to me as well 🥲. Selling Partner Support said they are 'unable to provide additional information regarding these decisions.'

I think it has to due with volume, not really the brand, No clue what the magic number of orders is, But we where shut out on fisher price, Which in the past we sold a lot, but last couple years not so much.

Yep.  I have two sisters that sell mostly household products and they suddenly got gated on a lot of brands totally unrelated to toys.

curious what other metrics they are using though, brickvoyeur got booted and sells 10,000+ units per year which I think is a fair bit more than at least some of the sellers that survived.

mmmmm, could be wrong but I don't think he sells that much

I still don't think it has anything to do with volume. I've only sold 1200 units this year and didn't get booted.....knock on wood.

I was reading an article, https://www.bitsaboutmoney.com/archive/debanking-and-debunking/, and now suspect that amazon is doing similar "risk management" with 3rd party sellers.
Both the overall corporate-speak in the letter, lack of specificity (IYKYK), and the opener: "To ensure a safe and trustworthy shopping experience ... we determined your selection does not meet our criteria [for] ... source of supply for LEGO." suggests this.
In simple terms, I suspect that if a store's inventory mix, volume, and velocity, appears too similar to retail theft then the account gets flagged.

Oh great, guess I have to start taking the spider security tags off my sets before sending them into fba now, the hits just keep coming.

Just going by his comment in the other thread:

"Averaged about 30 units per day over the year"

Well, maybe it's low volume but some accounts just fell through the cracks because of some other metric.  Wish I knew as I wanted to shut down for a while.

Don't think there is any rhyme or reason to it. Hoping that it resets into the new year, as ebay by comparison is a ghost town.

Know of some Amz sellers with low volume that are still selling. Have been a long time seller of Lego on Amz but only a few hundred a year. Noticed as others did in Q4 when they gated Lego including me. For active listings where one has inventory you can still sell on the listing, as I sold several hundred on an active listing and others that are still gated.
