this one did before...was sold out then temporarily out of stock and then back in stock last week

Ordered a couple on 03/28 and got them today. Order was placed on Italian Lego shop, just in time I'd say...29,99 euro each. Being my first two investment sets, I am pretty curious about what is going to happen...

It just doesn't seem very logical to me for LEGO to quickly discontinue a set which came to be due to its popularity with fans (oh yeah, and the guy who originally designed it...that's kind of important to its existence, too).  And it obviously sells well, at least in North America.

Minifigures Series 9 is one I remember fondly. Sold out three months after their original release with the "Retiring Soon" tag as well and still they came back.

6858 Catwoman City Chase.  Sold out for months before a batch appeared on S @ H for 3 or 4 weeks.  Moral of the story: it is not retired until S @ H marks it retired

One thing you must remember is that this set was marked "limited" in the catalog. As I stated earlier in this thread, I do not recall a set being designated in a similar manner.

From Germany it is "Sold Out" today. was " Call to check" yesterday. Managed to call them up and get 4 ordered (wanted 5, but he said he couldn't do 5 but 4 was okay). Lego says its on the way, but I can confirm once I receive them.

I just got confirmation that my order (including 1 rover) is on its way. Can I try to call them as well to order more? Or did you take the last ones vipul.toprani?

The reasons I bought a lot is that

A local toy store has a whole shelf of them for $38 USD which surprises me, because this store is notorious for jacking up their prices mercilessly. (BttF is $50 on the same shelf). I picked up a couple to flip, but am considering snapping up some more before they get wise and bump the prices up. Any opinions?

I bought another one yesterday for 36 euro. Was the last one in this unofficial lego store. I was happy it was still there. I am 99% sure it will not come back. Due to my experience of last week there is no other conclusion for me. As I cannot go into details about this experience. People should make their own conclusions. For me, when I see them in the wild, I will buy them all without a doubt. When I am right, this will be a big winner!
