Two separate things here, first I am surprised at how many people post pictures on Insta and FB of their "FLego", that's what they call it, fake lego builds. There is an amazing MOC that requires 2 1/2 Rivendell that I was looking at building, but even if not buying the minifigures you are looking at $1K if buying Lego.  Also, the Titanic seems to be a big target for fake Lego and most of the UCS SW ships. I haven't looked at this in years so had no idea how prolific it had become. Quality with numbered bags seems to be way up based on reviews and prices are way down with new "official" stores offering purchase options in the USA. Printed instructions and even real "Lego" boxes. These are still stolen IP, knockoffs but not sure what percentage of the market share goes to them versus official Lego sets.

Second, Brick Artisan the #2 ranked MOC builder on Rebrickable and BL designer reviewed a new to me building block company,  so I thought if it was good enough for him I would give them a try since they are sold on Amazon. These are all original designs not stolen IP that come in boxes better than Lego and include some very unique elements that lego does not produce. I just did a cheap trial set, The Newsstand, for $28.50 and it includes a light kit. I have never built a Lego set with a light kit only light bricks and on this one it is totally integrated into the build so that nothing is visible. All very nice high quality printed parts and a horrible minifigure. The fit and finish was very good with no missing pieces and they do have a parts replacement option although I did not have to use it. The tolerances are so good that the clutch power is so strong that parts are difficult to separate which can be a bad thing.

I was thinking about picking up the Farmers Market and Lakeside Cottage but not sure if I want to spend more money on this line.

ETA: Oh, I left out the best thing. Name of this company is: Funwhole!

  • I've been waiting for this one to become available.  Just ordered mine on Amazon where they had a 25% off coupon, making the total $101.  I can't wait to build it.  Over 90 printed pieces!

WOW!  The quality, the positive review, well thought out wiring and wire management, electric contacts between floors and the price.  As a big fan of Lego, this scares me.  Yes, I know the Lego name will likely always carry the perception of premium brand, but how long can you stay relevant in the non-licensed space with this sort of stuff?  The non Lego brands are blowing Lego out of the water with all printed bricks, advanced design and well integrated lighting options.  It really brings the set to life.

Why does this scare you?  If anything, all the competition from these brands gives me hope that Lego may have to step up their game.

I guess I just don't see Lego stepping up their game.  They've had plenty of opportunity to be the leaders in what I would consider "their" industry, but I'm just not seeing that innovation keep up with the pace.  Not that they'll go out of business, but these non-Lego offerings are going to continue to dilute the product leading to lower value across the board both new and old.  If non-Lego was on par with Lego prices, I wouldn't be concerned.

They’re filling some gaps in Lego’s portfolio. It will be interesting to see what else they expand into.

Pirates, please.

Received the free Chili Dog Stand (ordered 10/16) today in a paper mailer bag.  Box is totally crushed, but I guess you get what you pay for.  Hopefully the Holiday Newsstand will fare better in its transit.

I thought I read somewhere that they use Amazon for their US distribution?  If so, doesn't surprise me these days.  I'm regularly receiving Amazon deliveries of just single products with shipping label slapped right on the actual product (lego box).  The ones that allow me to ship in Amazon packaging get a bag at best.  CS is getting terrible there too.  Sad because I use to love Amazon.

I, and family members, received a total of three of these.  Mine and my father's came in a nice double-walled box.  My daughter's came in an envelope.

You have to remember when you order to check the box NOT to show contents or, state it is a gift.

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately I regularly do that and still get lego boxes with labels or even clear bags.  Maybe I've overused the option.

If this thread is going to evolve into the FunWhole fanclub, can we move those conversations to a separate thread so we can revert this thread back to its original topic?

@BrickLegacy @exciter1

Clone and Competitor Brands: A Clone brand or competitor brand, is a product manufactured by a legitimate company. For Example Oxford,Mega Blocks. Kreo or Character Building. These are companies that do not infringe copyrights and provide a competitor product, such as licenses and themes LEGO do not produce. It is fair to discuss, compare and share these brands and their products in the Community section of the Forum.

What about FunWhole Fandom is not inline with the "Original Topic"? Just because the sets aren't "Crap" anymore shouldn't preclude us from discussing them.

Per Jang he has reached out to them and they are working on a new name for the US. I am fine with a new thread but please not another site as I can barely keep up with this one.

I don’t see the free set thing. Maybe it’s already gone?

You have to submit a copy of your Amazon invoice to their email.

It has evolved from discussing the brand to "FunWhole Daily Deals". I think that should go to a separate channel.

Funwhole Fandom is very off putting to the Pantasy Lovers of the world...
