As been mentioned, rumor has the Monster Fighters and first series LOTR themed sets are being discontinued. I can personally vouch that most Walmarts and Targets have some or most of these sets on clearance so scoop some up while you can and for a nice discount. And these two themes just flat out rock. :)

And if course, 10188 Death Star. :) Now, how do I get that tune out of my head........

Just curious where you heard about the Fire Brigade, Grand Emporium and Tower Bridge retiring, and please don't say "the Lego store told me".

Where else do those EOL rumors come from????

Well, there are the order forms that Emazers has, there is also well educated speculation based on numerous other retailers activity. We can often times get an idea of EOL dates by watching when they all are clearing out their inventory at once. Sometimes, the Lego website gives an indication by saying "retiring soon", other times, there may be a set that will be released on the horizon or new theme that will be conflicting and TLG's historical behavior has been to get rid of the old set when the new one launches.

Go for Helms Deep

I would go for Tower Bridge, but Helms Deep is a great choice for people that don't want to drop $240.

Just spend a few hours reading through the forums here. Many threads with detailed guesses on which sets are going EOL. No one knows anything for sure.

Nobody knows things for sure, but i consider this forum to be a group of honest people for the same cause. The hunches people have here a more credible then most other things around. I'm more inclined to act on what I hear here more than anywhere else.

Oh, I agree with that for sure. It certainly helps spur some of my buying decisions. I am just saying it can be better to just read threads where you can get more detail on specific sets. Just searching thread titles for EOL can bring up a ton.

OMG I was just listening to this on Youtube yesterday!

Lego Australia flipping some sets to retired today. I hope my 5 at 40% off ship I was definitely over the limit on this one but took a chance.
