April 26, 201312 yr I bought the 7939 Cargo Train (Yellow) and 4867 Hogwarts on a "buy 1 get 1 40% off" deal. I'm looking to sell Hogwarts on Ebay in November. Did I make a good investment or should I take it back?
April 26, 201312 yr Sounds like you probably bought them at TRU? If that is the case you would have to take both back to get a refund. IIRC on those kinds of deals the whole thing has to be brought back, but then again it's been a little while since I've went to TRU.
April 26, 201312 yr Let's see. One is a train, and the other is a Harry Potter set. ......I'm trying to see a downside to this.
April 26, 201312 yr 40% off of what will be the determining factor, along with sales tax rate to determine final price paid. MSRP means this was probably a good buy, while TRU typical markup means you may find it more difficult to make money, especially on such a truncated timeline.

I don't believe it would be wise to bring back, but if it was 40% off already inflated prices, then I could see thinking about it. I'm also keeping in mind whether the train was overpriced? I feel that even at full MSRP for Harry Potter, it is still an excellent deal considering it has been gone for a while now.
April 26, 201312 yr Author I got the train for 191. I had a 10 dollar off coupon to add to the deal. I'm very excited about the train because I took it out and posted all the train cars, crane, and track separately on ebay and made over a 100 dollar profit. I would have loved to hold onto to it as a long term investment piece, but that's not my goal till after I fully fund and celebrate a successful 10 year anniversary in February.
April 26, 201312 yr I haven't seen too many cases where TRU BOGO yields prices that are over MSRP, it can happen, but pretty rare, worst case is he paid a buck or two over MSRP + Tax but either way, the castle has already appreciated nicely and the train will do very well also.
