I wonder if they will make a Balrog Minifig for the New wave of Lord Of The Rings Set?

Knowing TLG, they'd never give us anything as good as a bridge of Kazad-Dum, and if they did, it would probably be as dissapointing as the eagle from the Black Gate...

I think we're approaching this wrong. Don't think maxifigure. Think shelob. I think they could pull that off. Throw in a lighted brick and waa-laa you have it.

5-6 inch brick built Balrog, there's so much potential. A brick built Tree Beard would also be awesome!

I think YOu guys are approaching it from the wrong angle, because although a brickbuilt version may be more accurate, it inherently has no real exclusive pieces, and therefore has no real value outside of the lightbrick, headpiece, and wings. It the Bridge of Kazad-Dum were a $100 set, a custom molded Balrog might go for $30. However, Lego would have to give it poseable legs and cut the Goblin King, Hulk, and Rancor crap, and do it right.

If they do, it would have to be bigger than the Cave Troll and Goblin King which have set the "size scale" for the theme. Balrog is a lot bigger, so can't conceivably be a Maxi-fig without being weird in my opinion. Has to be brick built or some kind of new "Mega-figure" mold. Would love to see a Bridge of Kazud-Dum for around $100 with a big brick Balrog at one end and Gandalf minifig in the middle of the narrow bridge.

I agree with you guys. It has to be a Maxi build of some sort due to the fact he is so BIG. Would LOVE to see how LEGO builders would build him.

I think he's much bigger then that. I believe he's about twice the size of T-Rex

Balrogs are only 25 feet tall, but the fire and wings make them appear larger.

Even if he were twice that tall, TLG would only make him 5-6" tall, the dragon from HP was supposed to be 50' tall according to the book. Tolkien mentioned in his works that a balrog was about twice as tall as an elf or 14' tall, so the movie version is pretty hyped up.

I hope they make him brick built and huge, just like the movie. My question is how are they going to make his fire whip?

I'm pretty sure he will be brick built. And there're probably going to have to make a new piece for his fire whip.

Dude, are you just hitting up every extinct LOTR thread tonight?  ;)
