I thought they fired the hidden side designers?

It appears that they found a way to cross-breed the Hidden Side and Creator 3-in-1 designers.

No, just the box designers, those were the worst boxes in terms of understanding what's actually in the box. They also took my advice and made a TV show to go along with the story instead of an unfun and hard to play mobile game.

The artwork for Hidden Side was eye-catching but confusing indeed. One needed to look at the back of the box to get a better idea towards what the build entailed which perhaps may have been the point. Strangely enough there is an online series with twenty short episodes on LEGO's official YouTube channel that I do not recall being promoted at all. The app the theme was designed to interact with was a novel idea but not much longevity for something that only works long as the set is built proper.
