April 16, 201312 yr I'm still very surprised that they put a bus and a pizza shop in this set when they just did it for City Corner (7641). I wonder if this will devalue City Corner now that there's overlap... hmmm.... You're not kidding. This Town Square set looks like an almost exact remake of City Corner (the statue, construction crane vehicle, and small tractor being the exceptions).
April 16, 201312 yr How epic would it be if it was a Harley Davidson Dealership! Maybe that's why we got a motorcycle guy in the CMS.

April 16, 201312 yr Like others have said, very early days on investment predictions for this one. That said I think demand will be decently high. Top theme, plenty of minifigs, playability, display potential, uniqueness, and the potential for multiple sales as people use it in large city layouts. Supply will be the key to future prices - time will tell on that one.
April 16, 201312 yr You're not kidding. This Town Square set looks like an almost exact remake of City Corner (the statue, construction crane vehicle, and small tractor being the exceptions). Was 7641 a $59.99 set? This new one has nearly twice the piece count so $99 would be reasonable. Hopefully that means a

April 17, 201312 yr So should we start buying it in late 2014? Based on a 2 year run. That's usually the plan. Unless a super spectacular discount happens before then.
April 17, 201312 yr That's what I try to do. I use the Brickset Amazon price comparison page. The "plan" is to find 2 year old sets that are discounted but I keep seeing newer release sets are a discount instead! Like 10226 Sopwith Camel at 20% off RRP. Bought one! Doh!
April 22, 201312 yr Author Doh! ? Maybe something has been lost in translation, over here, Doh! is an exclamation of frustration when something goes wrong, getting 20% off 10226 is more of a WOOT! than a Doh!
April 22, 201312 yr I was thinking of Homer at the time. It's a "doh" because that was not the plan. I was supposed to buy something near EOL not something that may be in production for another few years. I am planning to visit the local lego store this weekend. Last time I did I planned to buy a VW Camper and walked out with a Tower Bridge! I predict another Doh moment!
April 22, 201312 yr Author Got it, I was yanking your chain, I have been looking diligently for 10226 on sale but the best I have been able to do is 5% off, I would be pretty thrilled with one at 20% off. Your right though, the camper is the bigger priority right now and that one is equally hard to find on sale, I did grab one for 20% off a few weeks ago but they didn't have any more.
April 22, 201312 yr Hehe, well I can broadly speak four languages, kiwi, Aussie, Pom, & Yank Amazon Spain seem to constantly have 10226 on discount. I have only seen the camper at about 5% off around the European amazon's. not really bothering about.
April 22, 201312 yr Author Thats pretty good, its hard to get the jokes across over text, no matter how many languages you speak I wish we had 10226 on discount like that, I thought we had all the chips in the USA but I guess not.
April 22, 201312 yr Chips? You mean Krisps? Yes 10226 is good, permission to feel smug......until... I look at every other set :(
July 25, 201312 yr I saw the new town square set at Lego today and have to say I was impressed with the entire set. I have not considered investing in city sets that much but I like all the new sets that just hit the shelves at the lego store and might grab a few for myself... Anyone else have an opinion on this set? Anyone bought it yet and built it? http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Town-Square-60026
July 25, 201312 yr Check out the #1 set on my top ten new old school set list: http://community.brickpicker.com/blog/7/entry-311-top-ten-new-old-school-lego-sets/ I love Town Square. Like most well performing City sets, it will appreciate well, just a little slower than licensed sets. I think you have awhile to get this one, though.
July 25, 201312 yr That's pretty neat. Mr. Frog being a city crane freak, we'll definitely need one for the personal collection at least.
July 25, 201312 yr thats a pretty meet set - ones like this make me want to just rip it open and build it!
July 25, 201312 yr I love everything about this set. The crane is awesome, the bus is beautiful (as buses go), the two shops are great, and the details make the set: statue, street sweeper, etc. are cherries on the sundae.
July 25, 201312 yr I think this is a great set. Should do well as an investment if it doesn't stick around at retail for too long. I'm actually tempted to open one personally and build it with the kids, but that might lead down the whole city landscape I'm trying to avoid...

I'm actually tempted to open one personally and build it with the kids, but that might lead down the whole city landscape I'm trying to avoid... Those cityscapes take up LOTS of space. My brosef and I collected a lot of City sets as kids and built cities that would take the entire floor space. We had so many road plates it was insane.
July 25, 201312 yr taking a closer look at this, the crane, along with the bus will work great in modular towns as well - there is a lack of vehicles that will work in those
July 25, 201312 yr I remember when the first pictures of this showed up and it was doubled up, so there were 2 pizza places and 2 bike shops, it looked great. They also had a very nice gas station included with it. Unfortunately, the service station didn't end up happening, it looked really good and would be great for those that have Lego towns in their basement. This set should do well, as the other like sets have done well i.e. City Corner.
