41999 - 4x4 Crawler Exclusive Edition

Yes...we are all dumb assuming he is rich...because he has an Audi and a Ferrari in his picture of his crawlers.  Or.....maybe it's because  we are smarter than you and researched our market and know the customer...what he does...and the fact that he has laid out half a million dollars so far buying these.  Mostly with cash...not always through PayPal/credit card.

Don't let the facts get in the way of your hate,  jealousy, and envy.  We love reading  your socialistic screeds, and are cheering for you to make a go at  life.  Fingers crossed.

Like you said.....it's going to be so funny when lego keeps making more than 20k, and this guy loses his Ferrari and goes bankrupt.   So funny.

We will see who is laughing at who in 10 years.  My money is on Mark...but best of luck to you.

Carpet contractor?? I'm in the wrong business. If he came up installing carpet, guaranteed he's a hard worker. That's back breaking work.

Every time I see a post of someone asking for "Mark"or how much money does he have or what car does he drive,

It blows the image I had for the average Brickpicker Member:  Adult, with a Job and only interested in Legos , even if it is for

investing reasons,  in this for enterteinment or to satisfy a need we couldnt when young.

Instead now I thinkof  most of the ones excedenly interested in him, as probably teenagers or youngsters struggling through college

who are easily amazed....

Get over it, and please get back to the topic.  I found Two 41999's  last thursday in Houston in Lego Store....

I guess he is somewhat of a god to some people here. I was just curious as to why he is not a member here.........if he in fact isn't.

I invited him but he has not joined that I know of.

I drive a Ford Pinto yet I sell LEGO.  PS  Please don't rear end me.

My dad had one until like 1997 when he upgraded. Lol.

Or people just interested that someone is putting so much money into one thing like this. I don't understand how people interested in the guy are somehow "inexperienced or "easily amazed". Name someone else you know that spent 500K on one lego set. He owns over 2% of the total number of this set - it is absolutely on topic.

Furthermore, there are many teenagers (Comicblast) and people struggling through college (FCBarcelona, although struggling may be only applied to schoolwork) who know what they are doing.

You just said it,  Interested, not obsessed..... I do not care , nor most of us must, what he does with his money, honestly it does not surprise me at all, is way too easy

 it's all business......

An apology if I sounded that I was unrespectful to the teenagers or youngsters in college, I was just to make my point clear.

No problem - its all text so no tone involved - just making a point.

In general though, I think people are a little quick to discount things that they are not interested in. Several people were commenting on the guy, who has bought many from all of us, so obviously it did matter to some people.

Let the moderators moderate.

Personally, I don't really care for what that guy does or does not do with his money. If he buys a Crawler from me and pays, then that's all I need to know. Whether he has a Ferrari, 500 41999s, is homeless, etc, etc.  is completely irrelevant to me. I am neither cheering for the guy nor jealous of what he has, I quite honestly just don't care.

I was going to go to my local TRU and LEGO store just to see if they had any in stock, but I am just so tired of this set that I could not even do that lol

You know what I'm interested in?  Those Winter Village Sets that retired.  I'm willing to trade one of my new crawlers for:

Winter Toy Shop

Winter Village Post Office

Winter Village Bakery

They can be new or used, but COMPLETE w/ box and instructions, this is for my personal collection.  PM me if interested.

So I cant help but wonder why Mark is stockpiling so many crawlers. Here's a few ideas floating around in my head:

6. After a lifetime of searching, hes finally found a way to get into the Guiness Book of World Records.

5. He's looking for the crawler with license plate number 763, because thats his favorite number.

4. He was the runner up in the contest to create the limited edition model, and he just hasn't gotten over the loss. He wants to wipe them off the face of the earth.

3. He has a terrible case of OCD.

2. He has a diabolical plan to take over the world and the crawlers (after some modification) will be his army.

1. He's really Santa Clause and hes gathering crawlers to give out to all the good kids on Christmas. (The not so good kids get mega blox)

Or, I guess its could just be a plain old investment strategy.

But wouldnt it be cool if he really was Santa????

The last wave was a week ago right?  The ones you guys are finding just happen to be the stores with less demand for the crawler.  Cause mine sells out 1st day.

Picked up 2 more of these at my local lego store today. Went in there real quick to grab the Thanksgiving polybag and low and behold they had these just sitting on the shelf. Nobody, and I do mean nobody, was paying them any attention at all which is precisely why I think this set may be in trouble once the resellers stop buying. I hope our 41999 prince does well but I now have real concerns over this one.

My theory is that he is stockpiling the Crawlers until they are in a lot of demand, and he has a lot of them to control the price of the Crawlers. This system sometimes works, but you have to spend a lot of money to achieve the goal, but the rewards are amazing.

People act like these sets are front and center with spotlights on them when you walk into a Lego store......the average consumer couldn't care less about this set. Let's be honest about what it is, it's a blue car made out of techic pieces. There are hundreds of cooler sets in a Lego store compared to the crawler. We have hyped this set up so much and I'm with whoever said I'm over it. What this set did do was now we can see who is in this hobby just to make money and who is in it for the love of Lego.

I thought Tim the Tool Man Taylor was Santa?

HEADS UP!!!!!!! LEGO SHOPS STILL CANNOT SHIP THE 41999 CRAWLER, BUT HERE'S THE TALLY FOR A FEW SHOPS IN CALIFORNIA, CANOGA PARK A NEW SHOP, HAS 4, MISSION VIEJO HAS ABOUT 6, AND ONTARIO HAS 10 OF THEM THAT'S AFTER TRYING TO HAVE THEM SHIP THEM OUT TO ME, GO GET EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was told that this last wave came from overseas, from where I and they did not know, but the Crawler was not doing very well in sales, so Lego had them shipped back and distributed them to various stores around the country. One California shop had 50 of them last week!!!!!!!!!!!!

If true it really does show where Lego's mindset is when it comes to their customer base and priority. They could easily have put them up at LEGO Shop at Home for international buyers and sold them (and no, no sour grapes, I have my 2 as allocated by LEGO Shop at Home)

I could not agree more!  While the Crawler is a cool set, after seeing it in person it doesn't bring the hype that a lot of people are giving it.  If this set was not a limited edition set people probably wouldn't view this set any differently than other technic sets.  Because it wasn't overproduced like some sets have been, i.e. Fire Brigade, people (mainly investors in my opinion) are going crazy for it, but it's still not that cool if you ask me.  Have I made some money flipping crawlers?  Of course.  Have I kept some for the long haul?  Of course.  Is the set really that cool though?  In my opinion it's not, hell I think the Fire Brigade is a better set than the 41999 Crawler, but sets like the FB will unfortunately never get the hype that the Crawler has due to the mass production of them.

I still say the Haunted House will be worth more than the Crawler a year after the Haunted House Retires and its $20 cheaper, There are about 80% of Lego fans have or will buy the Haunted House, as the 40% People buying and selling Crawlers are mostly people like us. The HH is one set you don't want to miss the boat on. Even at $180 it should rise to $400 and climbing. Why would anybody thing the HH and VC will not bring in the big bugs. so I have 60 HH, say $200 profit on each one, $12,000 profit, plus all the other great sets I have and all the Exclusives that are still to buy, all should be retired in 1-5 year, and then there will be 40 more, but with I will have I will be living on Wall Street. So Buy Those Exclusives and hard to Find Sets!!!!!!!!!!! Ed

Ed, I agree that the HH could do very well, but this all depends on how long it's available for.  If it has a shelf life like the FB has had then forget about it ever doubling in value a year after retirement.  It all comes down to how long Lego keeps it available for.
