3? 4? It's going to depend on what the buyer thinks the future value of the 41999 is.

I mean, rare as it is, it's still a Technic set.

That is what I was estimating too. I am leaning more towards 4 because the 10196 is worth about $1350. I would out a current value of the 41999 at about $350. You also have to factor in the value of the 10196 in the future.

Great. Thanks for the help.

Now I am looking for people that would like to trade.

The 10196 so awesome. I loved building the one I got my hands on!

Admittedly I'm a Technic fan, but given the fact the 41999 is a limited set and just 1.5 months on the secondary market, I do see much more potential at the 41999. Whereas in percentage the GC will naturally slow down its increase. So personally I would first await Xmas time and see how the Boss will appreciate before making some hasty decisions. Good luck what ever your decision will be ;-)

Honestly I would look to trade for a used one - especially if you are going to build it. Then you might be able to trade 2 for it.

I don't mind trade 4 for a new one.

Since it will cost me 800 to get 4x41999

Are you gonna open the new one though? Seems like a lot of money to give up considering the used price is <$500 less.

Yes. The new one is for myself to build

I getting the 10196 is for build not for resale

I get that it's cool to go through the whole experience... but spending ~500$ extra to OPEN a box is pretty crazy.

Personally I would just buy an already opened 10196 if you are going to build it. A sealed 10196 is extremely tough to come by as most will be in the hands of collectors who will not let them go for any reasonable price.

How do you manage that? One 41999 on ebay over here will - at very least - get you 440+ USD net i.e. after fees deducted.

i dont need a sealed box. but I just wanna to have a opened one with new sticker. But most I found is sticker already applied or sticker not in good condition.

How can you sell 1 with $440 after the eBay fee?

I think the 10196 will continue to hold value, until TLG or someone releases a programmable sound brick.  I think the only valuable (impossible to find) piece in 10196 is the sound brick, and perhaps the green 48x48 baseplate.

10196 is a very beautiful set and kids love it, but I am not sure if it's worth over $1000.  For that price, I'd rather look for a complete Statue of Liberty.

Anyone here wants to trade 41999 for Statue of Liberty?

So did anyone try to fit in the RC functions? Can we get the RC seperately?

Power functions are included with the 41999.

Oh boy... just checked and it is "Sold Out" already..... perhaps I am really new to this forum

Yeah it sold out within days, 2 I think. Keep your eyes open maybe it will come back in stock who knows. Do you want one to build or to sell?

I am new to LEGO investment. Having a strong feeling to kick start LEGO investment.... but still feel a bit scared of the amount need to invest.

On the other hand, yes, I do wish to build it also..... I have the 9398 and modular buildings.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

I would start by reading the articles and blogs on this site, they are very well written and cover manyn of the questions you might have. The articles suggest sets that could be great investments. A lot of research is required to successfully invest in LEGO.

Yeah, I found many useful topics and different area in this site. Anywhere good for me to start of with?

Thanks.... appreciate that.

Buying a couple of 41999s and flipping them for 3x money is a great start for a new investor.  Yes, there's some great reading on this site, helpful members and good recommendations on what sets to buy.  But my two cents worth is to also "think outside the box" and put some money aside on what you think may be a "dark-horse" set that few people with think about buying.  This may mean that it's rarer and won't flood eBay once EOL arrives.  With due respect, there are some "unusual" sets that I have invested in which I don't talk about or put on my Brickfolio.

When LEGO announces another Limited Edition like the 41999, be all over it like a rash!
