What if it really was someone here? Although I think that the people who are stealing LEGO are stealing them purely because the toy is easy to sell quickly, especially below retail. I doubt most of these idiots have any clue what the secondary market prices would be on the sets they are stealing.

What we have learned today: You can set up an expensive and highly technical ring of barcode switchery. Finesse method. Or run out the front door with a loaded cart. Brute force method. Either way, steal a lego go to jail.

Let's see. The guy steals from the store and later on decides to steal from the same store on the same day.

He will not spend a day in prison.......he will probably get off with probation and time served. I have first hand experience (the good side) of how the criminal justice system works and trust me this Lego thief will get a slap on the wrist. The system is more in favor of punishing violent criminal offenders and and trust me again, they can't even get that right most of the time.

Yep. Baseplates full of 1x1 plates even. Fingers would be bleeding midway through the first one.

Flat 2x2 bricks stuck together 20 high on a flat base-plate is more like it!

Hopefully they throw the brick at him... and don't just lego of him.

Of course my curiosity is wondering what sets he was buying. The audio of the story does mention some specific prices.

This is an old story (from 2012), and there was at least 1 more incident like this that occurred. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.
