7188 - King's Carriage Ambush

Featured Replies

These sets have been discontinued for a little while now but I don't really think they have gone up in value too much. I have the opportunity to buy ten of them for 36 bucks each. Do we think they are going to go up in value enough in the next two years to make that a significantly good enough investment? Lemme know what ya'll think..

Honestly I don't feel it will be worth the investment. If it were me I would take the $360 you would've spent on 10 of them and use it towards something else.

Kinda my thoughts but usually retired castle stuff just does well..

True, but it's been EOL for awhile and hasn't really how up in value much. I would get them if you can buy them for $25ish

I'm with Rich on this one, the price has remained stagnant since EOL with no clear signs that it will drastically increase. I would invest elsewhere or get the sets for cheaper..@ $36 a pop it doesn't leave enough meat on the bone to make a healthy profit in my opinion.

I agree with Rich, 36 bucks a pop isn't too great when you likely won't be able to get much more than MSRP for them. As a guy who's into castle from a builders point of view, this isn't a set I would have bought new for 39.99, and I'm not going to do it now. I can see the actual castle structures doing better, though.

There is also a new Castle set coming out later this year which is very similar.

Yep very true! This will keep the 7188 carriage from appreciating a lot IMO.

I agree with the others about this set maintaining MSRP but not appreciating much for a while. I would recommend putting the money towards a castle if you can afford it.

I have 1 of these that I purchased at a slight discount. It was an impulse buy because I hadn't seen it in any other stores. I do agree with everyone here that it won't appreciate much and your money is better spent elsewhere.

It is a decent set, but with more Castle sets on the way, this could end up stagnating around retail for a while longer. Plus it was discontinued barely two years ago. There could be an eventual payoff, but you may have to wait another 3-5 years for that. (And if Lego makes even more Castle sets next year, longer still.) It all depends on how long you are willing to sit on them for.

Thanks for the input guys! I do think it has potential way down the road but I don't think I'll pick up more than one or two of them in the immediate future.

the old medieval sets were my favorite, although there is a nice set in the kingdoms that is catching my eye

I have multipulls of these sets. The have gone up a little on Amazon, E-Bay etc. I feel that these are a long term investment. If you can get them for

I actually purchased four of these at a Frys Electronics two weeks ago for 29.99 each. Hope it was a good decision.

I have 2 that I bought around that price.  Let it be, they haven't moved much in a year, and I doubt it will move again.  The set doesn't do anything to stand out.

I got a few from Walmart when they were on their way out for $20 each. I sold a few, kept one for myself and I have one last one that just didn't seem to sell. I'm probably just going to keep it for myself. I'd pass on this set for investment. The Kindom's stuff is doing well but this seems to be the weakest.
