CL isn't exactly the bastion of humanity but this scumbag is the worst I have dealt with to date. Guy posts an ad with horrible pictures and says he will accept a reasonable offer. I take a stab at an offer based more on his text than anything and even let him know I was offering without knowing what he really had. The next morning I get a "I accept your offer" reply, and we send back and forth 6 emails confirming time, address, pickup, etc etc. In terms of deals, this was done complete in the books ready to go. Meanwhile I spend a large part of my day (sick, staying home from work) researching what I can about the lot and themes he claimed to have and it looks like a good deal. An hour before our transaction (11 hours and 6 emails after he accepted) I get an email telling me the price has gone up but I am welcome to stop by and make a new offer. Hey clown, FU. I admit I have had pretty good luck with CL so this may be tame to some. Got a bad story? Share it and let the healing begin!

Today I sold a 75059 Sandcrawler via CL - thinning out some inventory to pay for recent Walmart clearance buys (and clearing space for those sets).  At the end of the transaction, the guy says "Do you

Ladies and gentlemen, watch out when selling these Target price error sets. Your soul is on the line... if you still have one of course.

You bought a gift card to Dennys? On Purpose?

Full disclosure, The only place my grandparents would every go to eat out was Dennys, eaten there more times than I care to remember. I once got busted adding $10 to the $0.75 tip that my grandmother left to a waitress.

I prefer Denny's over IHop any day.  All we have is Bob Evans.

wow he even says it is the black pearl real lego

When I posted that originally he was priced at $250. The Flying Dutchman he's selling does have value. He just needs to list it as what it actually is.

So I have a UCS Tie on CL for $195. I've gotten offers of $100 and $150, but yesterday took the cake, $50. By text, from a guy in Orlando.  When I asked if he was joking he said he valued at $0.10/brick, then divided by three to start negotiation. 25% of asking price! Who the F starts there? I hope that wasn't you @donbee.

I considered countering with $194.99, but instead I just blocked his number.

yikes UCS Tie for $200?

Why "yikes"?  It's $200 plus tax from SAH.  I got it for $150 from Walmart, if I sell it now for $45 profit then cool, if not I hold it until after EOL when the value goes up.

Like you said it's not retired, people will look for upcoming discounts.  Also there is double VIP points right now for SAH.

That's why it's on Craigslist and not on BL or BP Classifieds. On CL I'm looking for a local end-user, not an investor. Your average person doesn't know that VIP points exist, let alone when they are double. Like I said I'm fine with holding the set for the long run, but I'll take a nice profit in the short term to essentially make the one I bought for myself half off.

Then you are probably better off holding on to it.  I don't know many people that blindly spend $200 on a Lego set without at least googling its retail price.

All he needs is one, and they don't even have to know you ;)

Yes I got one from amazon couple months ago when it was on sale for 140.00. Not bad at all. We'll do well after retirement.

No need for complaints about low ball offers then since they are expected when you are fishing for the "one",  we all get them ;)

I'm actually really impressed by the thorough and articulate posting he put together.

Doesn't sound like a BP'er, but as far as massive lots go (and the ridiculous asking prices that often come with them), this guy seems to be pretty legit.

I agree.  And if anything a bit too much info and disclosure on personal strategy, in my opinion.

He is definitely well-aware of Bricklink as he mentions it several times, but claims to not (currently) be a seller.

I like the 2nd to last sentence.  He doesn't want his phone blowing up on a $20k asking price.

The more I read, the more annoyed I became.

Why?

Why?

Because he basically told people how great the collection was a dozen times, how great he was at amassing said collection, how great he was for selling it at such a bargain and how great he'd be for renting a uhaul and delivering it (wtf?)...

Then he proceeded to tell everyone if you want to pay a premium for it, buy it now... otherwise I'll eventually get desperate to sell it and either drop the price or split it into smaller parts saving you a whole lot of work estimating the value for yourself or finding the parts you want.

Oh and he knows all about selling LEGo so he's doing you a favor by setting the price based only on part of the collection (yeah right).

Shut up and post the facts. Opinions are not needed in a CL ad.

What struck me the most is that after collecting and building for 10 years, he still calls it "Legos".

To be fair, the videos come across well and most people on CL kant reed enywey.
