I really like the lego 9398 4x4. I think it'll be a great set after EOL. What does everyone else think. Also I failed to get in on the excavator before EOL. At the current price is it still worth it?

I think it could end up doing well also. If you like it you should definitely buy it!

I am in the same boat as you, I would look at the Unimog right now if you haven't, it will be gone soon and is another great technic set. The RC crawler is also great, I am just not moving on them right now because it just came out.

Love the set to build and as an investment. Bought one 10% off before XMAS.

I'm tempted to write this one off completely given the popularity of the 41999, but then again it IS a remote controlled Lego car.

Oh no, not another Crawler thread....

It is pretty ballsy to even mention word "crawler" in the post name. Admins probably have a filter for that now.

I loaded up on deep discount from Amazon UK last summer.  We will see it they pan out.

After a few boxes were mangled a bit Amazon took another 15% off bringing my ave price per to 126.00 US.

 

Don't see how I can miss since they are selling for $50 or more per set right now.

 

Is it going EOL? Looks like its was on sale at a lot of stores and now most are out now.

Nope. EOL will be at the end of 2014, if the normal life time of technic sets will be 2 years. I can give more information, when i get the new order list.

 

Will be a winner, cause you have power functions and the RC factor. Nice design and much fun. Top prize for this in Europe: Something between 200 and 250 EUR. Maybe more.

Could be a good deal, is it available at other online retailers who often discount? If it is not, then snap it up. This set is closer to EOL than the rest of the Technic range.

Based on others' experiences with ASDA/Tesco etc... I would do click and collect, don;t have it delivered.

Its incredibly slow, but thats what makes it a crawler. There is a very simple fix to make it much faster which involves swapping out two gears between the main axles. You don't even have to purchase new pieces, you simply swap the gears around.

Yep it's freakingly slow (I saw that on youtube) but on the other side the power fonction motor is used so this vehicule can (slowly) climb rocks and obstacles. It's a 4x4 not a F1 afterall.

It is my first technic set for investment. Im new in this show with about 20 sets so far. In future I will like to have 30% of my lego to be technic. Sorry for my poor English. I'm still learning

Yeah, I saw the weight which made me even more sure that MKII will be a better investment. The RRP of the MKII is higher but you can get them for about the same price. Although I think both will be winners in after market. But Im out of budget for Lego at the moment so I have to slow down buying sets haha. But the MKII still has a while to go to EOL its a low newer.

I don't know which of them will be the best investement but I suppose the "less" pieces of the crawler is offset by the fact it's way cooler and appealing IMO.
