Prediction of worth for Series 10 "Mr. Gold"

I jumped and he just came to my house to get it. I think this is the best quick flip, and I avoided ebay and paypal fees.

That was a great quick flip. The 10% eBay fee and the 3% Paypal fee would've cut into your profit greatly. Great job avoiding those pesky fees! (;

  • I got a Mr. Gold about two weeks ago, #3006, at a KMART here in Los Angeles (3rd and Fairfax). I feel incredibly fortunate. My son and I have been collecting them all since series one, so ours will be

I know! You could buy a lot of Lego sets with that amount of cash. For real. This has to be the quickest & most profitable flip in the history of Lego!

Wow!!! That's insane, I'm shaking my head too! Happy for you though!

I honestly did not think about how fast this all happened. My wife came back from the store with it at noon and it was out the door 7 hours later leaving a wad of cash behind.

That's soooo awesome! It doesn't get any better!

Crap. Now that everyone is selling these for big dough, I want to get one. :P Just to sell though.

I know there is only 5,000 MG made, but out of how many total packs of series 10?

5,000 of 100,000?

what odds?

No one knows for sure, but there are definitely more than 100,000 packages. There could be 100,000 boxes, which would mean a gasping 3-6 million depending on how many packages each case holds, but this is a pretty big estimate. To be honest, I have no clue how many TLG has produced.

Congrats. About 30000% ROI in 7 hours. When opportunity knocks, it knocks hard

That's one hell of a loud knock! BOOOM!!!!

Bought a single minifigure for $2.99, sold for $1,000, and made a profit of $997.01.

In a span of seven hours, your Mr Gold gained an estimated CAGR of 33,500% above retail!!!!

HOLY S***!!!!

+1!!!!!!!!

What does the Mr. Gold packet feel like? Does it feel bulky or heavy?

hi Milkshake, I didn't notice that it felt different but I also didn't feel it for very long. One thing about it being double bagged is that if you hold a piece in the upper corner and shake then the pieces will not fall to the bottom corner. If that makes sense at all. When I found mine I started to finger it, found a large object which was his hat. End of story.

Lol just wondering because it has that second bag in the fist bag, does this make it easier or harder to find?

I suppose it could make separating the pieces inside a little trickier but still end up being the usual of feeling parts 'blind'. From experience with Mr Good & Evil, that top hat will still feel like a top hat.

I'd assume the dot pattern will alter throughout the world like the usual ones change?

From my own experiences with the bump code or dot pattern, do not place your entire faith on it. I tried using it with Series 7 & 8, and wasn't consistent at all. I think out of twelve different minifigures, one of them actually matched its code. Maybe it works well with others but not so much with me.

It may take longer altogether and a while to get used to the whole smoosh thing but every character I have 'blindly' felt for were exactly who I thought it was a hundred percent. I have a complete Series 7-9 and a number of wanted extras to back it up. Smooshing is the way to go!

I should have a badge that reads "Champion Smoosher" or "Minifig Man". :)

The difference being with this one though it is likely to be bagged separately and then inserted into boxes, so there is a possibility the dot code may be the same. I have never relied on it but it might be something that helps.

I agree smooshing is the way to go and it has not failed me since I perfected the technique a couple months ago. only problem is actually finding some packs of series 10 so that I can get to work and start smooshing.

It can help, I'm just saying to not bet everything on it. Use the bump code to help but still generally feel the packet to make sure it is who you want it to be. I would have ended up with more Pirate Captains from Series 8 if I had just followed the bump code without a little smooshing.

The problem will be getting to new boxes before everyone else has a chance to rummage through them

is yours an auction or listed for a buy it now price?

Nice sale!

Mine was listed at $1,125 BIN but I was contacted by someone who buys stuff from me sometimes and we came to an agreement outside ebay - $800 and a Gold C-3PO. I don't need another C-3PO, but I should be able to get close to $300 for it.

Winner!

Awesome deal!

$1000 for a single minifigure, that would be a tough pill to swallow. Congrats to the guys who made sales already!

Obviously some people have way too much money.....
