LEGO® Story of Nian invites children to learn the old story about Nian and celebrates the Chinese new year with LEGO bricks. It features a brick-built Chinese residence with traditional decorations, a snowy scene that is brought to life with a posable Nian creature, a snowman figure and six minifigures including grandpa, grandma, three children and a person in an ox costume to mark the Year of the Ox in 2021.

The spring lantern festival looks great. And I’ve seen pictures of it incorporated with other modulars as a corner unit.

  • My local store had 8 sets. My little dude and I were # 6 in line. Everyone was there for one. I definitely saw some shady individuals that will probably be reading this later. BPs aren't hard to spot.

Since 2021 is the year of the Ox according to the Chinese zodiac, mayhap we get a Brickheadz to celebrate down the line? Assuming a design has not already been revealed and I just missed it. I saw the pandas that are simply adorable.

Lantern festival already on backorder. I think it’s going to be one of my favorite sets this year.

Any idea if it's a WM exclusive or if it will show up on AMZ and Target?

I guess just a matter of time before it's on AMZ as well. So much more widely available than in the past. Extra exposure will be good for the older sets. Not sure what it means for this year's batch.

yep probably on amazon and should help older sets.  bp'ers will have an easier time loading up given the limits at shop at home.  i wouldn't count on these lingering forever but maybe they made more this year.

I wonder if this will become a "must have" for Modular Buildings collectors?

  • The garden model can be reconfigured into an alternative layout and combines brilliantly with LEGO® Creator Expert modular buildings.

Hmm, interesting. My local shop is indicating "in stock". I have no real desire to buy any of these, but perhaps I should...

You wonder how many they got. This is not a well-known release. For them to poof like that, either resellers went deep or they only got a very small shipment.

With the limits it would have been hard to go deep. I'm heading to a store today to get one. We shall see how many they have in stock. I think this set is a winner. It's a beautiful design and fits into the modular landscape. I'll be replacing my dog park with two of these. Bring a little more culture to my streets.

For what it's worth, my Lantern Festival from WM came in box labelled "do not put on shelf before Jan 10". Might be popping up in stores unless they accidentally sold their entire inventory online when it went for sale early.

Chinese New Year occurs on Feb 12 this year. Maybe shelves will be restocked after the rush is over.

Interesting. I didn't bother going to my local store. But they were showing no stock by noon so I'm assuming they likely only received a small shipment as well.

Might just order one online with the GWP ice rink.

The employee said they didn't expect any more in the coming shipment. Also he said they are only getting a couple of each popular set per weekly delivery like the bonsai tree, etc.

Yea, I think there's a GWP of the year of the ox as well.

Their shipping charges are a little steep....waiting for it to show up in LL FL, more reasonable shipping

what are shipping charges?

- wtf!?!  $240 purchase and they make you pay $21.  i guess that's why its still in stock.
