Sorting through a box of Legos, organizing pieces as I find them.

I've looked around a bit trying to figure out the name or part number for this part, but no luck so far.  I'm now assuming that this is a non-official Lego piece.

Any help is greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

    One of the technic pieces from my childhood.

    I usually ended up using my teeth to pull out the 3749 (Axle Pin without Friction Ridges Lengthwise), still do so when I remove 8020 from the box to build it.
