Is this classic style box art real or fake? Because that would be the best box art in the IDEAS line, I love it.

It is real.  Go to the LEGO website to see more pictures (link above)

Finally I can add more Pirates to my Collection. And my Son can have his own Childhood Pirates Set;-)

The new ship is so much improved. I built my old one a while back and wanted it to be more to Lego standards of today.

Now Your wish will come true! I am so freakin´happy! I feel like Christmas back in 1989 ;-)

I agree, the old build was weird and awkward to me, but I wish this turned into a different ship to give me something new.

I'm a Pirates fan, I love the ship, I love the box, but damn... the original bay looked 20 times as good as this one... looks childish, the layout is semi-good & the design overall is just disappointing imo... I'll have to wait for a 25% discount

If it only had an opening front flap, it would be perfect.

Right? That was the first thing I wondered. Are we sure there's no front flap?

Look at the skinny side in the image, the way uts folded, its a traditional box type, just designed graphically to look lile the old style.

I combined the original thread with the new thread.

I liked the original, and I like the final product.  I know there's complaints about the differences, but I've always taken "Ideas" as just that - submissions shouldn't be finished products, but should be used as a springboard for LEGO to produce a real live LEGO set.  I love that the original inspired the designers to come up with something really cool.

Nice set but really? This is completely different that the original submission.

Thanks @Alpinemaps. Before creating the new topic I did a site-wide search for any topics with "21322" in it, but nothing came back, so I created a new one.

Don't worry.  The previous post for this didn't have a set number for it (it was unknown when I created the topic).  It's always tough on the Ideas threads.  The original thread title also speculated that this would be Ideas Set #31, but it's really #30.  The Piano was announced around the same time, so the numbers might be switched.  Depends on what comes to market next.  There's quite a few in the chute now.

There's been a lot of pirate themed sets lately.  I'd love to take this, modify the Pirate Roller Coaster and Pirate Tree House, and have a pretty cool theme park area.

I appreciate the 2 in 1 aspect of the build, but I would have preferred more "building" and less "boat".

Good thing is that everybody needs 2 - one bay and one ship :)

I haven't been too excited for a new LEGO release in a looooong time, but I'm all over this set! Doesn't help that I'm a biased Pirates fan though...

This is great, definitely one to stack deep.

Humming the theme to The Goonies for some reason;)

I think this is freaking awesome.  And, depending on the lifespan, incredibly collectible.
