  • It's nice for what it is, but trees are the Christmas/Winter version of City helicopters.

First look at what I’m guessing is the promo.

Nice tree but underwhelming for a holiday promo

Not sure why you say that. Looks like a substantial build (I'm guessing 200-300 pieces), and the tree (and train) rotates on the base. If this is underwhelming for a holiday promo, then the GB GWP was too, and so was the Santa Snowglobe. Both of those were great to build and display, and did wonderfully in terms of resale.

The rotating aspect is nice, and it's a well built tree.  But I've long since grown tired of this type of promo - sets like the box last year are so underwhelming.  Really wish they would get back to these sets being adjunctive to the Winter Village.

It's not a bad looking set overall. It's nicely decorated and the spinning function makes it interesting.

However, almost every holiday set comes with some form of tree so it's not like this is totally unique. For a GWP, (likely for over $99), I think this could have tried to set a bar for build quality. I would have liked to see less plates and more curved pieces to give it a little more natural look. Maybe if the train looked more like a mini version of the Holiday Train would have been nice. This looks a little too comparable to the tree from the Winter Toy Shop set.

this could start a new holiday trend of ever growing micro builds of the 'town" christmas tree...basically what's happening in real life...I'm sure there are tons of AFols looking for a cool way to display their MOC micro builds and what better than a massive brick-build christmas tree at the center of their LEGO town

I'm wondering which parts rotate (based upon the box).  Entire tree or just the train, or maybe parts of it including the train?  Could be interesting.

Yes...because Turkey Day falls late this year...

Last year the Carousel was available after the Black Friday...started on Dec 1st. This year they will have the tree available during Black Friday.

I hate building the trees for the Winter Village sets so this doesn't do anything for me.  Even if this is bigger and spins I don't know that's unique enough to drive big demand, but I'm usually wrong about that kind of thing.

I hate building trees period.  They look nice at the end but man they can be redundant.  Props to those who build those huge displays with lots of detailed flora.

There have been two holiday GWP's for years.  I thought the Black Friday GWP was usually the second of the two.  If 40293 was the Black Friday set, when was 40292 available last year?  Was it December, or earlier in November?
