April 24, 20196 yr Dear AFOL Community, It has become apparent to us at the LEGO Group that you are dissatisfied with the recent launches of regional exclusive products. We’ve received a lot of feedback on the LEGO festival products to mark the Chinese New Year (sets 80101 and 80102), the LEGO The Movie 2 Brickheadz (41634, 41635,41636 & 41637) in the US as well as the LEGO Star Wars 20th Anniversary Darth Vader Bust (75227). Because of this feedback and concerns from you, our dedicated and most loyal fans, we have decided that regional exclusives launched after May 1, 2019 will become widely available via LEGO Brand Retail stores and LEGO Shop at Home after a limited period of time (3-6 months) of the initial launch. In the following areas we will still be launching products, which will have a certain limitation to availability and production runs: Pilot projects, such as Forma, to check out markets and opportunities without being able to make them widely available. Gift With Purchase campaigns through LEGO Shop at Home and LEGO Brand Retail. Products only sold in certain experiences (for example LEGOLAND, LEGO House & LEGO Brand Retail stores). Special Event Sets (Comic Cons, LEGO Inside Tour).

Doesn't that mean that something isn't a regional exclusive, then? I would love to have a copy of 80102, but I haven't found one at a price I was willing to pay yet. People need to realize that sometimes you can't have everything you want. If you really want it that badly, pay for it. Otherwise, accept that you can't own everything and find something else to spend your money on. I have an Ebay link to which I can direct you
April 24, 20196 yr LEGO has just release this statement regarding exculsives: It has become apparent to us at the LEGO Group that you are dissatisfied with the recent launches of regional exclusive products. April 24, 20196 yr Wasn't expecting this. Still a bit annoyed about missing out on Korea's Year of the Dog sets. lol. oh well

Anything AFTER 5/1/19 This can still go either way...Obviously if Lego has some of these sets "sitting around" they will use this as an opportunity to sell worldwide I could also see the BHz without sticker being sold everywhere I don't see how Lego can renig on exclusivity deals they already made w/ target and Walmart Altho I was not a fan of the regional exclusives...I did like the retailer ones.

I don't think their statement affects retail exclusivity deals at all.
April 24, 20196 yr Won’t impact the AFOL BrickLink program, either.Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum

April 24, 20196 yr It will be interesting to see if they offer the CNY Boat Race 80103. Not sure if it releases EXACTLY on 5/1 or after. Word choice with the press release is key here.
April 24, 20196 yr The key question here is whether LEGO is going to make more of these future exclusive sets post May 1st or divide the total quota between more retailers worldwide including their B&M stores and SAH ?
April 24, 20196 yr this is not good news for sales prices... they'll be hot for the initial release time then when LEGO gets 3-6 months after they will linger for ages and probably be overproduced at that point so that with limit 1 or 2 online they stay in stock forever. LEGO Micro Scale store is a good example of a limited availability set hanging around keeping prices down
April 24, 20196 yr Darth Vader Bust - LOL. What did I tell y'all? EXCLUSIVE doesn't exist in the LEGO dictionary! I'm a smug little moggy ?

I agree; despite what the text explicitly states...the implicit message (to me) they will use the opportunity to sell anything they still have stock available. The keys are, what is the inventory of existing "exclusive" sets and will Lego make more of any of the sets and maybe re-badge the box.
April 24, 20196 yr Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but it looks like anyone with a Darth Vader bust or LEGO movie Brickheadz is safe.

IDK..a comma would change teh message completely: "Because of this feedback and concerns from you, our dedicated and most loyal fans, we have decided that regional exclusives launched, after May 1, 2019 will become widely available via LEGO Brand Retail stores and LEGO Shop at Home after a limited period of time (3-6 months) of the initial launch. devil's advocate...I know; but the door is open for exclusives to be re-released (IMO) Edited April 24, 20196 yr by $20 on joe vs dan
