Well I got the set, and it seems that some of the bags have been opened and taped closed. Shopgoodwill had the item  listed as being not inventoried, so they can claim that it arrived as described.there's pieces floating around in the box, so now I have to inventory the whole thing before I try to build it.

That's pretty typical of a Shopgoodwill purchase.  I'd say unless they list it as new and sealed, you can guarantee that it's going to end up that way.  I don't think I've ever gotten a set from SGW that I didn't have to inventory.

When I search in the forum, there is no topic about 10246 Detective Office. Therefore, i create a post here. ( if i made some mistake, please delete this post.)

Also, i am wondering why 10246 is not in a list of brickpicker tracker.

Is it a non-valuable set??

The stock tracker typically contains hard to find sets, or sets expected to retire soon... Since 10246 is neither, it hasn't been added to the stock tracker.

No, it's just too recent. As far as I know the purpose of the Brickpicker stock tracker is to give users an overview which stores still have a supply of sets that have recently retired or are expected to retire.

With the Detective's Office, that moment is expected to be at least two years away.

People are slacking. Where's the retiring soon statements for this set...? emoji12.png

I saw the DO in the most recent post so I figured I'd be coming to read the EOL talk. It's surely doing the dance somewhere, right?  Last chance?!  Load up now or regret it forever?!

It's just now retiring which might explain investment performance.

That´s exactly why I am asking.

Your probably right. Although, it was really never a great investment, in my opinion.

When it comes to really expensive sets like that one. Making a profit is a little tougher than investing in, lets just say, speed champions.

I don't like to invest in those really big and expensive sets that much.

But that's just me.

Modulars are turkeys unless they retire suddenly. Discounts in the UK are also poor, we need -50% which doesn't happen here.

Won´t it be amusing if this one turns out to be less hoarded than Brick Bank and performs better?

Two for the personal collection. I have not invested in modulars since PS.

PS broke a lot of hearts.

BB, DO, AS & PR probably will too. I think the only chance for these sets is if LEGO cans the modular theme altogether and wait... 5 years?

PS was/is the most hoarded set of all time, so its no surprise it has not done very well. I have only got one BB & DO for personal build. and never got any more, simply because of missing discounts on the sets

What, like POTC?

It´s good they release one every year or two to keep the habit going but it would be better to have just a couple on the go at the same time.

When we had up to 5 available at the same time it was overkill.
