Let's beat this dead horse, gravediggers!

I still like the colors and minifigs.

  • Kinda liked 'em better when they rented crappy roof-leaking space in the rundown warehouse next to that shady "adult toys & movie" place. They'd have stacks and stacks of discount & clearance

  • There are plenty of reasons and/or ideas behind the unfortunate failure of the theme from the underperforming film to a conspiracy of LEGO Disney sets being cursed (as investments). Whatever the case

Grave Digger?

Gravedigger, Thread Digger, Threadcromancer, ....some other synonym.

It's basically a term we started throwing around for members that leave a post in an old thread and consequently brings it 'back to life' for more discussion.

I think they did poorly because of different reasons than just being Disney.

There are more reasons behind each indivdual themes failure besides sharing the one similarity of being a Disney property but it does feel rather interestingly coincidental.

I mean, if we're saying Disney=bad investment stop buying POC ships and Marval Super Heroes...

The movie was ridiculously bad, but the sets are pretty good parts packs, especially since they are easy to find cheap.

This is why I'm not buying any of the Lone Ranger sets until I see the movie. I think the west theme can stand well enough on its own, but I'm not inventing until I see the movie first.

I don't really care for the POP line out of the box, but for MOC's they've got a lot of good parts.

As for Toy Story I would of thought that at least the train set would of done well. It's not a bad looking train IMO.

Got It! Thanks.

I think that the Quest Against Time set fits in well with the mines of moria...and riddles for the ring...and the random Gollum cave in shelob attacks.

I have not seen the movie, but I know some people that have, those who liked it bought some of the Lego sets. Personally, I think that they are average sets based off a movie, but if there is another movie released, like Star Wars Episode VII, then they might gain some popularity, respect, and value.

So where can I pick these up cheap?  I have one of each unopened, but would actually like to build them!

Most have already been clearanced off from the bigger stores. You might be able to find them cheap on CL, you could still find them in some stores that always keep everything MSRP like Barnes and Noble, or you might be able to get a lot of a few sets for less than MSRP on ebay. Happy hunting!

These trickled down very rapidly. I found them at Marshall's and TJMaxx stores last year for dirt cheap.

I grabbed a couple of the Race Against Time or whatever for my personal building. Cheap Dark Bley rocky terrain tiles for MFZ.

I knew what you were getting at and had only meant in the beginning the pattern of straight up Disney related themes not doing well. I agree there were other variables as to their lack of value but it still is an amusing coincidence. Now you can't really stick Marvel Super Heroes in there since Marvel has been Marvel comics forever way before Disney ever touched that property and not one box has the big "Disney" logo slapped in the top corner like the other Disney related themes did.

Hey, so, I hear that Prince of Persia Lego was a bad investment.  Well, I want some of the sets for the parts so who wants to offload some to me at a decent price?  I am in the UK.

  • 1 month later...

I found some Prince of Persia sets (7573) on sale. The price is 40% of RRP. Is it smart to buy these? Or should I leave them where they are?

if you part out, get them

I do not part out. I have no experience in that.

I will leave them. Thanks for the advice guys.

Buy them and burn them, nobody wants to see them ever again. ;-)

You can always build them and put near either  Jabba's place or with cinderella Castle  :-)

Or, better yet, i think PoP stuff will be a perfect backdrop for upcoming Cantina set. Too bad there are not enough domes in PoP sets...
