75192 - UCS: Millennium Falcon 2017

I don't know if I was dreaming or what but I could have sworn I saw a post where someone preordered a UCS falcon for a May the 4th celebration this year. I searched everywhere (here, shopathome) and came up with nothing though.

That list looks right to me. I know the Xmas Train was supposed to come out last year but there must have been an issue so they quickly re-released the Toy Shop. Too bad as I think that move really destroyed the collectibility of the winter line whereas the Train would have been a spectacular hit (it may still be, I know I will be buying one for the tree).

Snowspeeder was confirmed a long time ago and the Death Star of course was famously confirmed on 4/1/15 lol.

So this rumor of a new MF is inaccurate?  Not surprised.

How exactly does Brickset get their 'confirmed' set numbers?

Are they in any way affiliated with Lego? Or are they just like other sites that get sneak peaks at order forms, or vendor catalogs, etc?

I'm curious how 'official' their confirmed entry to their database truly is.

thanks!

I have no doubt they have a prototype model built. I think they will have to see how the $499 price point goes first with the new Death Star before releasing a set with a monster price tag.

We should start a poll when do you think the UCS MF will come out?

There is no need to do that, you'll see that every now and then someone starts it spontaneously in this thread...

Let´s see what happens with the new DS first of all. Hard to believe both would be launched at the same time.

Why not ?

This can lead this thread to bubble thread talk so it makes sense lol

You don't think 499 is a monster price tag?

It's my understanding Brickset is tied to LEGO's database for the set numbers and descriptions.  I believe Jeff and Ed get their data from Brickset.

I did a quick search and found the following information:

Where does Brickset's data come from?  It includes a nice PDF graphic that shows all the different places that data comes into Brickset.  The answer to your question seems to again be a tie directly to LEGO Shop at Home's database.

Cos you don´t use all your ammo in the same month. Better to spread out the launches and hype to get SW fans all worked up.

Well a 10179 rehash would be $699+.

With europe and asia very weak one would assume sales of the new Death Star would be monitored prior to mass production of a $699 set.

Well now I feel really silly for not Googling this myself but I just didn't think such an answer existed in one place. Thank you so much for showing me the light!

There´s 75144 Snowspeeder too. I´d imagine that would be a June/July release with DS coming in September or October.

Provisional Exclusive list:

May: AoH

June: Minecraft Village

July: Snowspeeder

August: Porsche 911

September: Big Ben

October: Death Star

November: Xmas train

Since when are technic flagships considered an exclusive? They've never made the exclusive page on LEGO Shop at Home and they better stay that way. I don't want that porsche to miss the standard discount all technic sets recieve 1-2 years after release at retailers like Target and Walmart just because it gets slapped with the exclusive tag.

It would be a first, but so was the Ninjago temple and will be the Minecraft one. Actually, it now seems that it will be available from other sources from the get go.

I don't think it's inaccurate. 2017 has a nice ring to it: 10 years since previous MF UCS iteration and 40 years since the first SW movie theatrical release. My money is on that it gets released next year, provided, what @asharerin said, the new DS sale numbers are satisfactory.

Since it is clearly targeted at adults, seeing the box design and the 16+ age tag. Then consider the unusual secrecy around a Technic release. I would be surprised if it would not turn out to be an exclusive.

I really hope your right! Is it too early to speculate about price? :)

It the piece count stays the same it would still be good value at €600 in my mind.

$599 or $699? I think I already know.

My guess is that it'll be a new design with fewer pieces than the original. The Falcon had 5200 pieces. That's 1200 more than the Death Star, which is $500. A brick-by-brick remake of 10179 would be just be too damned expensive.

Take that.....Lepin.

I believe the recent Death Stars, both 10188 (2008) with 3803 pcs costing $400 (10.5c per pc) and 75159 (2015) with 4016 pcs costing $500 are factoring the inclusion of 24 minifigures and 27 minifigures respectively. Too many for an UCS in my opinion.

When the Millennium Falcon 10179 with its 5197 pcs was released in 2007 it had 5 minifigs and sold for $500.

Considering the last big sets released by LEGO in 2016:

5005217: Death Star Ultimate Kit with 4740 pcs selling in EU for 550EUR (11.6c per pc)
75827: Firehouse Headquarters with 4634 pcs selling for $350 (7.6c per pc)
10253: Big Ben with 4163 pcs and selling for $250 (6c per pc)
71040: Disney Castle with 4080 pcs and selling for $350 (8.6c per pc)

and in 2015:

76042: The SHIELD Helicarrier with 2996 pcs (17 minifigs) selling for $350 (11.7c per pc)
42043: Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245 with 2793 pcs (no minifigs) selling for $230 (8.2c per pc)
10247: Ferris Wheel with 2262 pcs (10 minifigs) selling for $200 (8.1c per pc)
75060: Slave I with 1996 pcs (4 minifigs) selling for $200 (10c per pc)

We could infer that the Star Wars franchise (and Super Heroes) sells more expensive LEGO pieces (not as expensive as Bionicle like sets though). So, doing a new Millennium Falcon, say for the new Star Wars Episode VIII with the newer features of the older ship and using similar number of pieces, say 5200 pcs at the average price of 11.6c per piece; it would make it the most expensive official LEGO set to date at roughly $600.

Maybe LEGO will begin offering credit lines, multiple payment plans and things like that :) but WE NEED the new version of the UCS Millennium Falcon with a massive amount of pieces, yeah!
