I don't know if I was dreaming or what but I could have sworn I saw a post where someone preordered a UCS falcon for a May the 4th celebration this year. I searched everywhere (here, shopathome) and came up with nothing though.

So the box has a picture of Han and Chewie flying the Falcon away from Cloud City whilst being chased by tie fighters? I remember that scene clearly from ESB. ?

I love the set... and Cloud City in the box art is great... but they could have at least put a correct scene on an $800 set.

My thoughts exactly. This set being rumored a while back of having an interior painfully reminded me of SSD. The interior of the SSD is just god-awful. The interior of this Falcon, they did good...great in fact. I'm in love and now need to find a way to get this on day 1. Crappy thing is, I'll be on vacation in Europe when this is up for sale for VIPs on 9/14 (or was it 9/15?). Part of me thinks there will be a short-term shortage as there are a lot of people like me in their 40's who were deprived as a child but now have disposable income but the other part of me is like $800?!?! We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

So is anyone going to be buying to flip?

I would be very happy to see that redone. 

If the remakes are gonna more like this vs the DS crap, I'll take it.

If I don't have the time to build it the week I get it, I might see what people are willing to pay locally.  If I can clear at least $$200-300 above my purchase price then it's worth it I think.  

I'm really curious to see the underside if it's unfinished like 10179 or actually has details.

If i am lucky enough to get one on day 1.... I really doubt I will be selling it

Do you think they will really be sold out on day one? How many people are going to drop upwards of $800 on a lego set besides AFOL?

There is no point, ebay fees will eat your profit and if (especially in UK) box will get damaged in transport, you are done.

Sorry, I meant for face to face sale only.

You would have to sell this at 1100 just to break even on eBay. Local sales might be easier on an item like this.

If anything, this set is trying its hardest to become the anti-flip as much as possible. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if people tried to flip it.  But it would have to be for large margins to be worth it.
