Its certainly plausible in my opinion, having looked at the box art of 10179 some pieces on this one are different so more effort has gone in to this if its fake created in photoshop!? However I'm not sure about the cockpit, this seems off to me especially with Hans head poking out the top !

I'm also not sure the first 'leaked' pictures would look like they've just come straight off the lego website either, at least when we first saw the new DS pics it was a wonky pic that looked like it had be taken on the sly using a camera phone, this one just looks too clean.

Comparing the two 'box' shots, there are indeed some notable differences, like Manse1001 said as well:

Spring-loaded shooters on the top-turret? Interesting... :P

Any way, if it's a fake, it's the best fake I've seen so far!

Bricklink sellers of old antenna piece just got a "please raise your prices 500%" memo from TLG...

Do they normally have 2 x UCS logos on the side of the box?

Yep on Assult on Hoth and DS.

I'm not commenting on whether I think it's a fake or not as I'm happy to wait for the official announcement. Also, I'll likely wait for the inevitable discounts as this will be sold everywhere like 10179 was.

What's also interesting if the aerial picture looks spot on as well.  I couldn't make out the red spring loaders on the top but all other parts/colours seem to tally up.  If I'm not mistaken 10179 only included a B&W aerial shot on the box so it hasn't easily been taken from there, which means it would have been recreated? As I said early, if its a fake its a good one !!

The seams appear much tighter (less gaps) - certainly seems better. If it's a fake, someone went through a lot to make it.

btw, it is still likely a fake.

I know you guys joke about cheese slopes, but seriously, this has got to be absolutely fake.

For one, outside of a few cosmetic changes, this 'fake' is almost a carbon copy of 10179.  Secondly, I know Lego likes to add a bunch of smaller pieces, but there's no way they added almost 2500 pieces to basically a carbon copy...

That piece in the lower left box looks wrong (appears to lack symmetry).

And as if I even needed to mention it, the jpeg encoding algorithm is all over the place on this one.:jester:

Talking about inconsistencies, the cockpit clearly was taken from another image at a different angle.

People sure do have a lot of time

The precise comment I made to my better half this morning.

Obvious fake is obvious. At least author could spend little more time to work out the exposure and contrast of the the entire picture which looks like 2D graphic without any depth.

Read this on another forum "Roughly 7500 pieces for $800...". The poster has been a pretty reliable source for info on new sets. If this is true, then $800 doesn't sound too bad for the biggest Lego set ever produced and also when you take into account the Star Wars tax. Getting excited again.

We are forgetting about the possibility of them adding a lot more interior work inside it. The newest picture looks like a really good fake and I have to give whoever made it credit.

The newest picture was created by CM4Sci precisely to show how easy it was to fake a box image, he never tried to trick anyone and made it clear from the start...
