maybe the worker is an undercover purist AFOL secretly trying to bring back true light and dark gray.  the bley colors are ugly compared to their predecessors.

Rather than disciplining the employee for the error, Lego invested £50,000 on improving lighting and labelling at the factory.

LEGO needs to simplify their greys/grays.  No need for twenty versions IMO.

Large, unbagged pieces are stuffed into the boxes by humans. Or it could have been a human selecting the wrong color for the machines to pack into bags.
