April 13, 20178 yr Walmart to start offering discount incentives if you choose ship to store over free ship to home option. Excludes items carried in-store, but that still leaves a lot of LEGO options. Starts to roll out in a week and should be going strong in June. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/walmart-kind-discount-impossible-amazon-040100655.html Let's see what this does with something big like the Bucket Wheel Excavator...
April 13, 20178 yr It will be interesting to see if they offer the discounts based on what is offered in the specific store that you are going to ship to. If that's the case, it could be a really nice feature if you live close to a store that doesn't carry a broad range of products.

This was discussed in the Walmart Clearance thread already a few days ago, but the kicker is that the discount only holds for items that are not already stocked in that store. So this offering works exactly as you describe it, redcell.

April 14, 20178 yr So, the walmart marketplace stores may soon get a lot more pickup orders? It'd be Nice if they deliver it to your car too, like with groceries.

April 15, 20178 yr Only US stores? Canadians getting crapped on probably because we're too nice. smdh
April 15, 20178 yr Changes ahead for Walmart as indicated here. It is obviously attacking Amazon and saving human resources in store.
April 19, 20178 yr Author Well, looking at the discounts coming out today, unimpressed. Most discounts are on the order of 2 to 3%. I thought I'd check on something I know would typically cost a lot to ship. A 14' x 42" steel above-ground swimming pool has a discount of $10.88 off the $279 price. So, 4% on something that is definitely costly to ship to home. So, either, 1) Their ship-to-home costs are really cheap 2) Their ship-to-store costs aren't much cheaper than shipping to home 3) or They save a lot on ship-to-store but don't want to give it all away as a discount. In any event, the discounts seem insufficient to overcome the "Walmart Pickup" opportunity costs and psychological pain and Amazon is pretty safe. With the number of Amazon distribution hubs popping up everywhere, how long until they offer a similar discount?
