To lighten the mood, here is a finished picture of mine.  To get the colors of the engine plume correct, the four outside engines use a trans-orange plate while the center engine uses a trans-light bl

Should I get one on eBay very quickly?

No, you should get 35 - like every other reseller.

I just completed building one and I love it. Of course made some bonehead mistakes deep in the snot backing and had to peel some apart to fix it but hey, that's LEGO :)

I just can't believe that this will retire so soon. Are there any examples of sets that went C2C, then came back and remained on sale for months / years more?

lol, with the success of this set people actually believe it's going to be retired anytime in the next year without multiple future production runs?!

Does anyone know if Lego put a number on the sets produced for each Ideas set? (due to the creator getting a percentage per sale I thought there could be a cut off)
If so this set would be at its limit for sure.

This set will be limited to how many they can sell.

So the next combi or tower bridge then? [emoji6]

Will more than likely just run the normal length of time for an ideas set, which from memory is 18 months.

Average life is about 15months?

adventure time had 12 months

YS had 14 months

ecto 1 had 18 months

so earliest Saturn 1 can go is April, but as late as December?

Yep I’m probably a bit off with my time but you get the drift. More knowledgeable members will have the correct info.  Ecto would have been a very good seller so I’d expect that sort of time frame.

Brickheadz S2 2017.

It also went to sold out late December and came back. Strange things happening with this set, or Lego is toying with us..

Let's put it another way. We all k ow the clock is ticking on this set. We could have as soon as April (unlikely) or as late as year-end.

Neither way there's enough certainty to start acquiring these when you feel the time is right for price / promos. I can't see it being discounted though.

not many non-lego retailers for this set in the Uk. Just John lewis and another I believe?

It would be hilarious if this became the Tower Bridge of the IDEAS range. I wonder if they put a maximum earnings cap on the designer´s commission.

John Lewis, Hamleys, Very, Littlewoods and one other. Only John Lewis and the other store have it in stock though.

How April? It was released last June, so surely June would be the earliest?

I'm starting to feel a little smugness coming on. John Lewis now have 20 less ;-)

I think Research Institute and Mars Rover were the hardest to get so far. If LEGO agreed on a set amount of 21309 to produce as part of their contract with the designer, why not pull it if it's reached? They need production space for all the Star Warts and Pooper Heroes crap. If people are now panicking on not having enough 21309, point the blame at the mirror, there's been more than enough opportunities.
